Am newly slim-ish after being overweight all adult life and now want to smarten self up. Dresses are everywhere this year but I just dont have a clue where to start. I need something I can go to visit clients in that I wont feel self conscious about. Or am I doomed to feel self conscious anyway? I dont seem to be able to pull together an outfit and dont have any idea what to do about it. I dont even know what colour suits me. I am 55 and less confident than any teenager I know. Oh dear. Gloom!

I think you should go to a personal shopper somewhere like John Lewis. They will know what styles and colours will suit you and be able to sort you out a whole outfit.

Is there an "hard sell" involved in this process? I presume they must work on commission and I have to be a bit careful with money. That said, I'm gonna do it anyway. Thanks

At John Lewis there was no hard sell whatsoever. It was lovely.
