I want some I can wear casual everyday but also glam up if I need to.

I'm 5ft8 so need some length. Would like a jersey one and also a nice floaty one.

Can any recommend?

Bumping this because I'm looking too!!! I don't want a really floaty one though, more slimline but not tight fitting!!!!

Anyone seen any about?

RecursiveMoon · 30/05/2012 23:15

I got a lovely grey jersey maxi-dress in H and M of all places. Cheap as chips, £14 IIRC.

RecursiveMoon · 30/05/2012 23:17

Oh, you're quite tall. Dotty P's have some nice ones that are too long for me. They have side splits though.

daimbardiva · 31/05/2012 00:17

I have one of the Dotty P jersey ones (with the side splits) and love it. Casual enough for everyday but can be glammed up too. I also have a very similar one from H&M which is not quite as nice (thinner jersey) asthe DP one but half the price. The DP was only £18 though so it hardly breaks the bank anyway.

I've also in the past bought a really nice maxi from Yumi online for £25 - more of a floaty one which I wore to a wedding.

I am 5'11" and the dresses are floor length on me, which is a nice change!

Kikithecat · 31/05/2012 08:44

Got the dotty P stripey jersey one yesterday for £20 and it's fab!

wildfig · 31/05/2012 09:27

I've got a couple of nice jersey ones from Phase Eight (black and royal blue) - more or less like this except they were called something different last year. I'm 5'7" and they're a good length, with a twisted front detail . They haven't bobbled either.

jetsetlil · 31/05/2012 10:06

I have just bought a lovely maxi from BHS of all places! (I was in there checking their Dotty P range). Mine is black with straps and looks a bit Grecian style - sorry not very good at describing. It looks great with sandals and demin jacket for summer day or night. It was £25 and they had a few different colours.

gorblimey · 31/05/2012 10:07

There's a really nice one in White Stuff. I'm also 5 8 and tried it on yesterday, but couldn't justify it as I had bought loads of other stuff Blush

Sorry it was fat face:

DP sale on for the next two days. Jersey dresses down to £16.20.

QueenieLovesEels · 31/05/2012 11:25

The Boden one in black is cut well but getting one in stock is a hen's tooth situation.

It is cut lean so buy your normal size. It has a tiny fold on the empire but not enough to make it maternity like. The jersey is a good quality and you can get a bra on with it.

You would need the longer length.

I had a look at the DP ones and found the material lacking. If you put your hand underneath and stretch it slightly you can see your whole hand because it is too sheer. I do that with all jersey because then you know if you are buying quality or something that will show off your underwear/bumps.

There is a lot of cheap jersey knocking around this year and cheap is not forgiving or great at keeping it's shape.

HipHopOpotomus · 31/05/2012 12:08

Kiki I am wearing my B&W striped jersery DP maxi dress as I type.
Wonderful to wear & I'm getting showered in compliments - love it (not usually a DP fan)

Cherrypie32 · 31/05/2012 12:38

Another vote for DP maxi. I am wearing khaki stripe today before weather breaks here. I wanted plain khaki but stripe is more forgiving on the lumps and bumps. Going to have a look online now as pop up sale on and was tempted by a few DP bits

Kikithecat · 31/05/2012 12:53

Can't wait to get out in mine HipHop, the only coments I've had so far are from my children: DS (13) "It looks really old-fashioned", DD (11) "Hmmm..."

Kikithecat · 31/05/2012 12:55

...they are used to seeing me in jeans 365 days a year...

BigHairyFlowers · 31/05/2012 13:24

What about this ?

suntodayplease · 31/05/2012 13:55

I recently bought this dress
www.thewhitecompany.com/clothing/dresses/knot-front-jersey-maxi-dress--navy/

I'm slightly taller than you and it's fine on me in terms of length, there are codes about for 20% off so it's only £60

bronze · 31/05/2012 13:59

Watching with interest. Just has to send a lts one back as it made me look pregnant when one of my good features is i have a fairly flat stomach. It was also long on me

I'm 5 11 and most others come up short
Going to look at yumi

FabMum1 · 31/05/2012 14:51

Have been into DP today and they didn't have any in my size, boohoo!

Will now look on the website
