Dp has just told me we are invited to Wimbledon for the day, what do I wear? I'm a SAHM, so I have nothing exciting in my wardrobe. I've never been to Wimbledon so I have no idea what's expected sartorially. 5' nothing and a size 8/10, and will be on a tight budget. Help!!
Smart or smart casual or jeans??

I went to one of the Keith Prowse (?) hospitality events last year. Wore white jeans, nice t-shirt and cardigan so smartish but comfy. It rained all day (boo!). I'd say anything goes. Met a friend who was at a corporate hospitality lunch - she was wearing smart linen trousers, heels and jacket. Make sure your shoes are comfortable! And enjoy!!

I'd say no jeans, comfy shoes and something that goes with with either umbrella or sunhat.

Do you have any idea what sort of hospitality is being laid on?

the invite just said 'hospitality, food & drink and championship tennis'. Sadly it did not promise sunshine!

I have one pair of comfortable peep toe heels, but no smartish jacket...

I have this www.fennwrightmanson.com/petites/petite_dresses/stiff_silk_cttn_drawn_dot_dress_petite_navy_combo.htm

which was a tk max bargain last week (£29)!!

is that too smart, perhaps with a cardi rather than jacket?

I went to Wimbledon last year, didn't have hospitality but was in the debenture seats so lots of corporates and a few footballers & wags around.
The serious tennis fans wear what they like, the older ladies wear coordinated everything and the wags wear skinny jeans and big handbags.
I felt hideously underdessed in denim crops and a floral top! I hate the term smart casual but that's perhaps what you should aim for. Think summer garden party rather than wedding! Wear comfortable shoes and layers, use sunscreen, take an umbrella.
Enjoy and have a Pimms for me!

Thanks so much for all your great ideas, I'm thinking cropped chinos, comfy wedges, floaty top and a pretty (boden) cardi - does that sound ok?

Really really excited!! Smile

I would wear the dress. It's nice to dress up for a change if you don't normally get the opportunity. I think cropped chinos would be a bit casual.
