I know, I know... it's hot. Who wants to think about winter coats??

But I'm hoping some of you beautiful MNers want to help me look...

First off, I'm not in the UK. I'm on the West Coast of Canada. So I'm looking at North American web sites. But would order from Europe for the right coat.

Here's what I need:
around knee length. I'm 5'8", around 140 lbs. Pretty much a standard North American size Medium. I do have long arms though.

Must have a hood - but can be detachable.
I want a down coat. Does not need to be water-proof, only water-repellent.
It doesn't usually get crazy cold here. We shiver like mad when it's around 0 degrees C. It rarely gets to -5 C.
I am looking for super-thin down. I don't want to look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Have been looking at The North Face and Patagonia. If only the Mountain Hardwear Citilicious Coat had a hood!! Here it is.

Thank you in advance, you gorgeous stylish wonderful ladies. Thanks

Yep, Lands End, they have various styles and colours. But you'll need to wait for the winter collection as they don't have any at this time of year.

I bought a great one in Munich. It's Gil Bret. I think you might have to wait a few months for the new collections though. I don't know if they have one with a hood.

Merrell wakefield insulated, should be available in Canada! It kept me warm and dry this past winter in all the rain here and should deal well with snow.

I bought my non-Pillsbury Dough Boy one from Nordstrom (it was Calvin Klein). Nordstrom usually have a good selection, but you would have to wait until fall, I think.

In the meantime, these seem to be the best of what is around:

DKNY

Tommy Hilfiger

I bought a really practical, stylish coat from REI last winter and would thoroughly recommend. Nothing on website at the moment but possibly will be once in season.

Oh I just took a look at Amazon. I think you should look at their outerwear store. I found this, this and this.
