Just bought the Me & Em maxi. Well I had a code..

That's great about your shoes alwaysrunning.
The HoC thing is quite complex. Really worth booking a consultation.
ollie, I still don't agree with the big belt at hip level, or the oversized jewellery thing. But I do like a big watch. Colour was great on the one you linked to rufus.
Boden jackets arrived and are going back. One wasn't dark enough a navy, and was a bit small, the city one was nice but way too big, and I'm sure if I sized down the sleeves would be too short. Not to worry, after the Matches frenzy yesterday, it is just as well!

Blue sorry about your friend's mother. It is so hard.

Bloss glad you had a great time.

Fritzi, Amber, Bloss and everyone great sales buys.

Dauphin pleased there's some good news.

In taxi. Tangerine t, pale mini, black Marants, orange Celine. Zesty!

blue2711 · 09/06/2012 19:54

Hmm, classic romantic you say, bloss. You could well be right, though it does slightly conjure up an image of per una drippery and floral Alice bands to me! Both of which are not me at all (i hope!) I definitely will have an consultation though.

Lovely colourful outfit marsha. I'm in bright colour today too and it has made me feel a bit happier: bright pink 811s (better now length adjusted), cream broderie boden top, lime green cashmere cardigan, scarlet LV roses scarf and scarlet patent Bloch ballerinas. And the much worn navy blazer. Sounds a bit much but it works I think.

blue2711 · 09/06/2012 19:56

Shame about Boden blazers bloss but fingers crossed for matches success!

pickledsiblings · 09/06/2012 20:07

Alwaysrunning, try this link here for a complete grid of House of Colour clothing personality types cross referenced to different clothing 'styles'.

I did that word link by doing the following btw:

  1. copy and paste link
  2. put in front of link
  3. at end of link add a space (just move cursor to the end of the last letter of the link and then press the space bar once) then write 'here' (or whatever text you want to appear)
  4. put after whatever you typed in 3. and then press the space bar once and continue with your message

It can be frustrating doing links but like anything, it's easy when you know how. HTH Smile.

NY, I missed your post earlier. So glad that you and Annie got together for what sounds like a great chinwag. So Envy of all your dresses, I would settle for just one or two dresses that actually fit and flattered my figure. My petite dresses that I ordered from JL are quite flattering of my shape but I just don't like the prints , it can be such a PITA being a huge short arse!

Bloss, I linked to a fab Me&Em blazer for you a while ago, it was probably charcoal but worth checking if they have any navy ones, maybe?

Marsha, you sound good enough to eat Grin.

Emo76 · 09/06/2012 20:41

Thanks pickles I almost certainly a dramatic natural rainbow maybe maybe not Wink

marsha your outfit sounds hot

Champagne, Indian and football here tonight, most relaxing!

pickledsiblings · 09/06/2012 21:03

Champagne, Indian and football... sounds like you are just listing random things Emo Smile. Have a good evening, give B. a big sloppy kiss from me Grin.

Hopefully · 09/06/2012 22:48

Just back from lovely meal out with friends and no children (this never happens! We always back out of leaving them with anyone else unless we really have to). Outfit choices severely limited by not thinking to get changed until the boys were asleep, and half my clothes are in their room, but luckily restaurant v casual. Meal expensive (too much wine) but delicious.

Loving all the clothing personality talk, I really can't wait to learn more about it (and analyse you all at hypothetical country house MU Wink).

MarshaBrady · 09/06/2012 23:32

On more champagne. Love you guys. Dh texted said MiC people here I think he's lying I can't see them Grin

notyummy · 10/06/2012 01:41

Hic! Far too much wine and G and Ts at black tie do.

Yes annie twas the Gap coated skinnies yesterday!

Fear I may pay for this tomorrow, but it was fun.

to you all.

Hopefully · 10/06/2012 06:30

I have just woken up to the realisation that MiC is probably Made in Chelsea. Last night I was just think that Marsha was probably too pissed to type properly Blush Grin

Had a lovely chat with friend about clothes over dinner last night, and ended up in
very earnest agreement (the kind of earnest agreement that one can only achieve after the best part of a bottle of wine each) after I persuaded her that buying good quality (expensive, if necessary) clothes does actually pay off in the long run, even though individual purchases can be a bit eye watering.

Dauphin · 10/06/2012 09:53

Yes, just worked out MiC too. Impressed your DH would know who they were, Marsha! Mine, clueless, bless.

Blue- so so sorry to hear sad news about your friend's Mother. People do need lovely caring friends at times like this, such as you. Wishing your friend's DM, your friend and you some peace and calm during the next few poignant weeks.....take care.

Glad you had a fab night Bloss...thanks for info on packing. Thanks too, notyummy, we are driving down, going a few days before house is ready, stopping off with MIL en route for a couple of nights, then 2 weeks ... so no luggage restrictions, well, DH prob has some, but I do want to be sensible and not bring back half the case unworn, as per usual.

I'm deducing I'm probably a Romantic Classic then, based on the little information I've gleaned....[wildly wrong, I suspect]...

Dauphin · 10/06/2012 10:04

Notyummy...hope you are feeling good this morning! Wink

Yes, agree with principle of buying quality over quantity. I have some things I've had for years that were expensive labels, that are still amazing today...i am still very happy to wear, and seem timeless...most notably Prada kitten heels, Armani LBD, LV bag, Caroline Herrera skirt, Katharine Hamnett jeans (a good barometer of weight, as had since 21). I'm, er, alot older....yikes. Plus cashmere. You cannot go wrong with cashmere.

Oh, and found an old Acquascutum mac of mine at my DMs, which I have requisitioned....

One thing I am determined to buy thie AW is an expensive white fitted shirt, or three....

DonaAna · 10/06/2012 10:07

I'm either a Dramatic Classic or a Classic Classic.

Found a solution for the Castaners: gel blister pads from my local supermarket really work!

MarshaBrady · 10/06/2012 10:17

Hehe yes Made in Chelsea, abbreviation due to hanging out on MIC thread

Was good fun, I have a headache now. People were dressed smartly (at C... hotel bar in Mayfair) and mostly in black and a few sequins.

Blister plasters are good.

suburban · 10/06/2012 10:47

Morning

Grin Marsha, I love Made in Chelsea got very overexcited when I spotted someone I knew in the background on it a couple of weeks ago. Your outfit sounds lovely, glad you had a nice time.

Thanks Blue, I was going mad trying to work out why all my pictures were coming out with such soft focus, turned out DD had smeared moisturiser on the lens Smile. So sorry to hear about your friend's mum, it is torturous she is very lucky to have you as a friend.

Really interesting hearing about clothing personalities and shopping habits. At the moment barring floral jeans I am buying super simple clothes, largely because what I am buying is so cheap the plainer the better. I am really suffering not having a Zara, Mango, H&M near by. I used to get a lot there. Agree fundamentally with Hopefully's point about expensive being better, but i tend more to look at fabrics so would rather buy a silk top from Warehouse than a viscose one for twice the price from Reiss. Also prefer to spend more on shoes, knitwear and accessories and budget for anything else.

Congratulations on the house Apuski. We bought our house in March and as much as I am enjoying doing it up, I do resent spending money on boring things like primer. I just want to be at the choosing beautiful colours stage, not discovering more and more artex Hmm

SE have you ever looked at Olivia Palermo for celebrity gamine inspiration. She's not as wild as Flavia etc but always looks amazing. Apologies if this is way off the mark, I am fairly clueless about colours/style personalities.

here am just practicing!!!! Thanks pickled!

blue2711 · 10/06/2012 11:43

Oh love that bag alwaysrunning! Bags are the one thing that I never seem able to go cheap on... Otherwise love a (hopefully) judicious mix of high and low end. I am most likely to be wearing expensive bag, scarf and jewellery and high st clothes. Like cheap for fashion victim purchases and expensive for classic items.

dauphin bloss thought I was classic romantic so perhaps we are similar?

Sun shining today! Going to open garden thing this afternoon: light blue Jamies, grey marl t shirt, Zara floral blazer, tan wedge sandals.

Hope you're all having nice Sundays and ny and marsha aren't suffering!

blossoming · 10/06/2012 11:43

Well done alwaysrunning, and pickled for the tutorial!
pickled, thanks for the blazer info from me&em. Basically they are the wrong fabric (I need stiff fabrics), and too short (jackets should hit the crease - where my leg starts if I lift my leg) . Obviously Roxy is exempt!

OP posts:
DonaAna · 10/06/2012 13:16

Love Olivia Palermo's look. sadly cannot copy her as my proportions and colors are completely different.

In my opinion, a good bag can make the rest of my H&M and Zara tat outfit look very pulled together. I recently got on a plane without a boarding pass, with no ID and with a ridiculous amount of prohibited items and an oversized carry-on - I think carrying a 2.55 made all the difference.

Just seen this dress on another thread and thought it was pretty.

Am v v jaded. Hardly any sleep as hotel room sound proofing was rubbish. No sore head though! Thankfully dd out on playdate and DH and I are ensconced on the couch with papers and French tennis open final on.

Glad you had good times Bloss and Marsha.

Early to bed tonight I think...

MarshaBrady · 10/06/2012 15:35

Lol Dona. Impressive.

NY lovely dress, would really suit you.

Ooh exciting Suburban! You'll have to get the goss. Actually I realised there are two bars where we were. They could have been in there. Drat! Grin

Dh has been rather handy today. Bought nurofen, Sunday Times Style mag, tidied and made roast pork. Will have to go out more often.

ApuskiMcClusky · 10/06/2012 16:46

Panic panic panic, our nanny has just texted asking if she can come over for a chat. That means resigning, doesn't it.? Bugger..
