olly and fritzi so excited you've arrived AND reporting some initial shopping success.

red we have had a number of nannies and au pairs over the years, no massive disasters and some give and take on both sides has made things work well. We employ a really lovely live in nanny now which makes a lot of sense if you have the space.I'm relaxed about sharing our home with another person though we are very used to it and she is incredibly considerate. Key to it generally I believe is accepting that just because someone might not do things EXACTLY how you do does not mean that your children are being cared for in a loving and safe manner. Because of the hours we work (v early start) nursery care just wasn't an option, it does sound like you have found a really good nursery though so I appreciate the dilemma!

Am having a v quiet night in after a rather big night out last night with clients/colleagues The usual drunk shenanigans and yes I paid for it today. Nice to potter round with DD1 before bedtime and surf net at leisure!

Update from brighton: we are in our pjs, watching friday night tv after a trip to pizza express! I may even open a packet of minstrels!

loobylu3 · 01/06/2012 21:58

Glad you 2 are having a lovely time!
Is the style day tomorrow?

MIM- I had meant to say the other day that you are sounding super stylish for a mum of a 3 month baby- great purchases! Pleased to hear that you are getting your style mojo back icey. The first 3 months are the hardest with sleep deprivation usually (appreciate that for some it has continued much longer)!

Pizza express and minstrels! Ollie- stop torturing us Grin.

(Have just finished large piece of apple strudel and Icecream so actually already succumbed to Friday night temptation. No wine though. My knly concession to health.)

Russianred · 01/06/2012 22:19

Slightly pissed here. Should have stopped after constructing two things, but moved on to a work bench (toy one) which is decidedly skew-whiff. DH already asleep on sofa after overdoing the bonhomie at end of half-term drinks. Am with you in spirit Fritzi and Ollie.

Thank you for the nanny advice. Lots to think about. The thing for me is that I'm going to be doing drop-offs and pick-ups as I'll have the car, so need to consider ease too. DS loves the outdoor space at nursery and has settled phenomenally well, DD would possibly benefit from 1:1, but that will change as she gets older, I imagine. Tricky. Certainly have the incentive now to negotiate for a higher position on the pay scale Pickled. Emo, live-in would be lovely - but we're without the extra room at the moment and the place is still ramshackle in parts. Something to consider for the future though - I benefitted loads form having someone living in when I was growing up.

Annoying about the Boden stuff Everything. Could you order something else and then use the free returns label to return the lot?

notyummy · 01/06/2012 22:47

Charlize Theron looking smokin hot on Graham Norton in fitted dark red shift dress. DH concentrating very hard on the tv Hmm.

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 04:45

4.30am. Is that really an appropriate time to start one's day? Roll on Winter.

Hopefully · 02/06/2012 06:31

DS2 started his day by 5. Luckily my alarm was set for 5:20 to go to London anyway, so not too traumatised. Left DH staring blearily at him, am off to London for the weekend.

Pleased with my any-weather outfit - Orange j brands, mustard vest top, big brown linen scarf, toffee blazer and Toms. Had to pack light due to sewing machine taking up vast majority of suitcase space (don't ask) so have maxi dress, sandals, fine knit cashmere and another vest to create outfits with till Monday.

Ollie and Fritzi hope you have an amazing time today, Alex is great fun. Doesn't look like I'll be able to join you this evening, have a lovely MU too!

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 07:08

What are you up to in London, hopefully?

Have just done shift change with DH, but of course am tediously awake now!

MarshaBrady · 02/06/2012 08:48

Thanks Decam and SE. I quite like it but think I won't. Bit expensive for what it is.

NY great you can make it. I can be on time without ds2 or later with him. I'd like to bring him I think.

Mega early start Amber. Have fun in London Hopefully.

blue2711 · 02/06/2012 12:16

amber I need you! AH clutch arrived (so speedy! I'd had an email saying weds so am delighted!) and goodness it's lovely, as is the matches packaging. Will definitely be purchasing from there again if only for the beautiful box.

Anyway, the problem is I'm not sure how to open the clutch and don't want to force it. Am clearly being an idiot but I've tried twisting and gently pulling the clasp: nothing. Need instructions please amber, or anyone else with one of them. Thank you.

Hope everyone is having lovely Saturdays, despite the gloomy weather.

Am planning tonight's outfit around bag, providing I can actually open it by then of course....

blue2711 · 02/06/2012 14:26

Ok, panic over Blush. DH came home from work and managed to open it. Combination of tag's thread being caught and the clasp being a little stiff (and me being a fool, obviously).

But most importantly, I love it! Outfit planning can again commence.

amber have you found it to wear ok? Obviously I will look after it, but don't want to be worrying about sequins rubbing off with just normal use.

ApuskiMcClusky · 02/06/2012 15:21

Hi, quickly dropping in as I start getting ready for the ball tonight - having had axquick scan, Hopefully your SLL weather outfit sounds great!

I bought some Chanel 'June' polish this morning, steering clear of pinks, ready for holidays in a couple of weeks.

But big news of the day - we've made an offer on a house! We've had to go quite close to asking, as there are another three people offering on it, so fingers crossed things will go our way. If we get it, there's a lot of work to do - extension, complete redecoration, new kitchen and bathrooms and then whatever a survey may uncover too, so my easy life of no maintenance could come to an abrupt end!

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 15:23

Sorry blue just seen this, it is just a twist lock! Mine was a bit stiff but don't worry it will be ok!

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 15:23

Ah I see you solved it, must read thread properly!

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 15:25

I have found it ok, always get a few bits of glitter on me by the end of the night but all in all it is wearing very well. Have heard a cOat of hairspray good for keeping glitter in place...

Grin Blue. I love that you were temporarily defeated by a handbag.

Amber I'm at a sewing workshop thing. Surprisingly fun, although lugging a suitcase with sewing machine and weekend clothes and fabric in across London was no joke.

notyummy · 02/06/2012 17:35

Great news about the handbag Blue!

Hope you are all still having an amazing time in Brighton. Exciting and jealousy inspiring posts on fb from Emo and Reine!

Hope the workshop is going ok Hopefully.

Relaxing day here today. Less so tomorrow when we battle the crowds and rain in London- but hopefully have some fun! Definitely boots weather I have decided- and unstylish caghoul!!

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2012 17:46

Am absolutely raging. We took DS to a children's zoo and he was bitten on the face by an older child while on the play equipment. It was so hard he is bleeding and has a huge bruise on his cheek! He was with DH and MIL at the time, which is lucky for the child because I was apoplectic when I found out. Apparently the parents apologised and scarpered. Grrrrrr...

notyummy · 02/06/2012 18:16

Oh Amber your poor DS. That must have been quite a bite if it is bleeding. Have you managed to clean it properly as there are all sorts of nasties in human mouths? I know it does happen as dd was bitten once at nursery, but doesnt make it any easier.

Those of you who fancy some thought provoking well acted thriller/ sci Fi action, set the Sky Plus for District 9 on Channel 4 at 9pm tomorrow. Great film.

blossoming · 02/06/2012 18:26

amber that is terrible. I'm not surprised you're raging.

I give up with this country. Honestly it is 20C less here than it was last weekend. I got cold biking earlier and am wrapped up in cashmere with the heating on.
Wish I was in Brighton! Go girls.
