a bag for the summer

mckenzie · 27/05/2012 21:14

i had a major clear out a few weeks back and got rid of lots and lots of handbags etc. I now find I have no 'summer' handbags. I'd rather like one bag that I can use daily that will go (or not go) with everything. I tend to wear corals, reds, turquoise colours. Anyone seen anything nice recently? Not too huge as I'll only fill it up and make it too heavy but big enough for glasses case, one purse, one credit card wallet, tissues, keys hand cream etc.

TIA

GrinGrin Ahh, I have a sneaky suspicion you may be a fellow addict!!

polyhymnia · 28/05/2012 13:59

Love that Carolina but wonder if I'd realistically get all my clutter in it!

polyhymnia · 28/05/2012 14:52

Btw P and M have a special offer on all bags this coming weekend.

mckenzie · 28/05/2012 17:55

Anyone got a FC discount voucher or free delivery code by any chance?

OP posts:
madammecholet · 28/05/2012 21:36

Sorry, Don't know about FC one, but p&m is 15% off with 'Jubilee'..

mckenzie · 28/05/2012 22:03

thanks Madammecholet. It would be rude not to use that 15% off really wouldn't it?

Grin tis ver ver lovely, seeing loads of nude clothes everywhere too, am yet to plunge though as I might look like a sausage! Accessorizing in nude is far better for my curves!

I ve been looking for a tote for holidays - am thinking of getting this? in either the pink or tan. It s probably a bit big for what you re looking for thpough!

This should be the moment when I at last order the P and M Mariella bag in snake I ve been lusting after. But am still dithering about whether it's too OTT for my everyday lifestyle - which is PhD student in central London and dweller in suburbs who mainly lives in skinnies and tunics - mostly blue and grey with touches of other colours. Converse style or ballet flats or Fit flops on feet - grey blue silver tan or nude. Dowry friends go to theatre etc in London too burg usually wear something pretty casual though not boring I hope!

Please someone convince me it really will work or to save my money.

Will need it as everyday bag can't just 'save for best' .

I think there is something about a really nice bag that just makes you feel good all day long so i'd go for it poly although it is out of stock just now but only a 5/10 day wait. Go one girl! You know you deserve it!

Sorry for bizarre words in first post - done (badly) from iphone.

I've just bought the Carolina from P & M - as in it arrived on Friday!!! - and I love it.

I've had a tan Radley across the shoulder for years and always use it when I'm doing a work day in London or even away for weekends for mates as you don't want to cart round a huge bag but I got so frustrated as it didn't actually fit in very much and I was always having to take everything out to get to the thing I wanted at the bottom.

The Carolina actually expands quite a lot so you can get a serious amount of stuff in it for a smaller bag. But what is really good about it is that you can unclip the strap to use it as a clutch! I'm off to Ibiza with a group of girlfriends next month (what am I doing!?) and this will be the perfect bag for both day and night.

Colour-wise it goes with everything and I'm a vintage girl through and through and it definitely has that vibe.

Definitely would recommend. :o

Cheeky - and hijacking - bump before I decide on the Mariella snake (link a few posts back) while it's still on offer.

Any more views on whether it will be a good everyday summer - and later - bag for a casual lifestyle, please?

madammecholet · 30/05/2012 13:36

I love the snake Mariella polyhmnia think as its neutral it'll go with loads of things, I have some shoes which seem to go with anything I put them with.. like the fact it has the second strap too, i've got last years pink version and wear it loads still.

You have been lusting for ages! seems like a no brainer! Wink
