oh FOR GODS SAKE just take your bloody shorts/t shirt/burka whatever OFF

all sorts of ages and sizes of women were there lookign NICE - the ones who looked stupid were the ones hobbling to the sea in DRESSES ( oh yes and not religious based affairs)
really we are our own worst enemies

Oh and sequin bikinis make me feel hot just LOOKING at them. ANd get a cup that fits - no need for underboob

and lastly FRIGGING maxi sundresses sheesh ENOUGHT already

I wear a rash vest or a swim shirt because I burn to a crisp on my shoulders if I don't.
(Way more effective, quicker, less sticky and cheaper than gallons of sun cream. Especially with water mad DDs who won't wait for Mum)

Board shorts stops between your legs chaffing raw walking back to the hotel.

Sensible beach wear means less sunburn now and less skin cancer in the future.

battherat · 27/05/2012 17:09

I wear a shorty wetsuit unless it is roastingly hot. Then it's a tankini, or board shorts & swimsuit underneath. No problems with showing size 16 body but scuttling around after toddler DS and in & out of sea would risk a bid for escape from G cup boobs. Even the best bikini is not built to withstand the bouncing of those bad boys.

BerryLellow · 27/05/2012 17:13

What I don't get it is when whole families spend the entire day in a wetsuit. Eat a picnic in it, sit around and read the paper. It's bizarre.

BerryLellow · 27/05/2012 17:13

A wetsuit each I should say

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:13

i like

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/05/2012 17:14

Well I do agree. All these you can't wear this or that unless you're a 5ft 10 supermodel drives me bloody crazy.

Wear a bikini, wear a maxi dress Wink - wear whatever you like and feel good in. But its sad that some people who have perfectly nice figures feel they need to hide themselves because they don't measure up to some unrealistic ideal.

And we have to take some blame for that - how many times I read on here about what one shouldn't wear unless you have a model figure - its just silly. I'm not a model - I'm short and feeling rather chunky at the moment but I'll still wear sleeveless and maxi dresses and shorts and white denim . . . And you know nobody points and laughs and if they do - well so what Smile

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:14

yes

wot she said

noddy thats just a bint in shorts

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:16

I like that though and its not too covered if you have the body! Anyone can wear anything although on beach in UK a thong bikini looks odd. I quite like denim cut offs and vest if I am a bit pasty.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:17

OH MYGOD
a thong speedo on a keycamp hoiliday!
imagine brit bloke - family type pool
anal cheesewire

the whole place GASPED

wasn't the sea freezing?

abitcoldupnorth · 27/05/2012 17:23

I dipped toe in North Sea today in bikini last seen 3 children ago in 2004. You would've been proud Grin

Saw lots of wetsuits too, but we are extra north

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 27/05/2012 17:23

I got a sunburnt arse on holiday one year when I was 14( Spain ) spent a large part of my 2 week hols either sat on wet towels or lying arse upwards under a tree on the sunbed outside the tent much to the amusement of the young lads opposite who shouted over from time to time asking how my arse was today Blush

On the rare occasion I can't find shade you can be sure I'll be covered from head to foot.

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:23

Just easier in the med to chill and feel less inhibited as time to get ready and cream up etc and sea not freezing so less hobbling about. We are meant to look uncomfy in the UK we are famous for it!

Empusa · 27/05/2012 17:30

I think your OP was a bit mad and ranty, but do wish more people felt comfortable in swimwear, myself included!

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:31

Okay. Rant aside ..
Sea was cold. But refreshing.

Me and DC went to beach. I had a fetching black 1950's style all in one. Sea was lovely. Got there at 9am and came home before it got too mad. I didn't see any maxi dress things. Although I was busy making fried egg sandwiches and tea. Sea was lovely.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 27/05/2012 17:40

Empusa - maybe we should invite Nancy66 to this thread Wink

Empusa · 27/05/2012 17:42

Haha, oh hell yes!

OP are you still feeling ranty? We've got someone we'd like you to meet...

Grin
cybbo · 27/05/2012 17:45

i wear a swim skirt and conservative top. It is culturally appropriate for me and i think it should not bother you.

TuftyFinch · 27/05/2012 17:49

cybbo I had two Grin and a nice mug of tea Grin

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:51

How did you do teh eggs

startail · 27/05/2012 17:52

If you take your wet suit on and off you fill it with sand. Not good.

The beach is to have FUN, not a fashion parade.

Now teens in shorts in sun and sand free indoor pools do midriff me.

startail · 27/05/2012 17:52

Mystify me!
