oh FOR GODS SAKE just take your bloody shorts/t shirt/burka whatever OFF

all sorts of ages and sizes of women were there lookign NICE - the ones who looked stupid were the ones hobbling to the sea in DRESSES ( oh yes and not religious based affairs)
really we are our own worst enemies

Oh and sequin bikinis make me feel hot just LOOKING at them. ANd get a cup that fits - no need for underboob

and lastly FRIGGING maxi sundresses sheesh ENOUGHT already

Oooh I get all cross at the beach for the opposite reason. WHY should men be allowed to wear big old flappy shorts, while I'm supposed to rip out my pubes and parade around in my PANTS?? It's all wrong and unfair. I wear board shorts as a feminist statement, innit.

You are the ranty yin to my angry yang Lumbago.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 16:57

lol oh i must admit there were a lot of men kidding themselves they had a 32 inch waist still.
part of the perils of our climate I suppose that swimwear lasts so long!

jaquelinehyde · 27/05/2012 16:57

Oh come on don't try and pretend you are being all judgey and ranty because you want everyone to feel comfortable enough to 'get it out'

lumbago · 27/05/2012 16:57

tis true.
looks at own lard

Did you actually enjoy your visit or just sit there gawping at every one else?

TwllBach · 27/05/2012 16:58

I would honestly rather swaddle myself with a horse hair blanket than wear a swimsuit in public. Or even on my own, for risk of spotting my dimpled, wobbly thighs slapping and rubbing together if I pass a mirror.

I will sit on the beach on a maxi dress if I wish. I might possibly take my cardigan off and hoik my dress up to my knees if I'm feeling particularly frivolous and confident, but thank you for making me feel even more certain that people will be judging me the second I walk out the door.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 16:59

it was ace
i read, I slept, i ate a nice salad.
i swam.

Why should I wear a bikini or a swimsuit on the beach?! How very odd for you to get cross about a woman in a summer dress/shorts on the beach. I was a darn sight more comfy yesterday in a cool light short dress than I would have been in a bikini getting burnt or obsessing about having enough cream on. I think generally in this country people are a bit too keen to wear so few clothes every time the sun comes out. The number of burned bodies I have seen this weekend is alarming.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:01

agree re burning

no it was a few people with perfectly normal bodies swimming in dresses

madness

I got my size 16 Arse into my bikini yesterday. I did keep a strappy on top tho cos it was a bit chilly at the waters edge to expose midriff but would have taken it off had it of been warm enough to do more than paddle

KenNEddieKennedy · 27/05/2012 17:02

Yes, they do get het up about P&C parking on here, lumbago. That's in the same league as your beef to be honest!

jaquelinehyde · 27/05/2012 17:03

Nice try Lumbago Grin but I'm not buying it, you're being judgey for no good reason (we all do it) now admit it and then we can all move on Grin

KenNEddieKennedy · 27/05/2012 17:03

And where is your beach of choice, lumbago?

usualsuspect · 27/05/2012 17:03

I've never seen anyone swimming in a dress tbh

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:03

saint tropez

this was the best thing about aging, for me, not caring about having a perfect bikini body. and holidaying in europe, and seeing women of all sizes wearing all kinds of swimwear or not, and no one giving a shiny shit, screaming in horror or barfing

i am a little regretful that as a lithe teenager i never dared strip down to less than shorts and tshirt at the beach :)

KenNEddieKennedy · 27/05/2012 17:04

I've just spent 55 quid on a suck it in swimmy....Hope it works!

ZZZenAgain · 27/05/2012 17:04

but maybe lumbago these women are wearing what they want

usualsuspect · 27/05/2012 17:04

Come on Lumbago , tell us which beach to avoid Grin

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:05

i remember going to menorca post dc2 and refusing to take a bikini till a mate MADE me
look back now and thought how good my body looked! Of course in the end i wore it

OP posts:
KenNEddieKennedy · 27/05/2012 17:05

No I didn't ask your brand of fake tan lumbago.

BerryLellow · 27/05/2012 17:05

I'm still searching in vain for the perfect bikini, I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist. Maxi dresses on the beach are too hot, and get wrapped around you and I can't be doing with that. I do tend to wear a vest for standing up/running around purposes though. I fear I might fall out of my bikini if I didn't, and that's too much getting it out for anyone's sensibilities.

lumbago · 27/05/2012 17:06

yes i vest up to stop tittage when digging sand castles or whatever.
Might take someones eye out.

KenNEddieKennedy · 27/05/2012 17:07

I say we go back to bathing machines.

noddyholder · 27/05/2012 17:08

The days when I used to wear cut off jeans and string tie bikini top in sea were my finest! I was not hiding anything quite the opposite Grin
