I know a lot of people are not mad keen and I have never had a maxi before but I really want something cool to wear. I thought the above was pretty?

Sorry I've just realised there's another maxi thread going! Blush

I like it, but think you would have to be v tall and slim to pull it off. I love maxi's but they have to fit well.

Yama · 26/05/2012 21:43

I love it. Great colour. I'm not sure what kind of body it would suit though.

OracleInACoracleocus · 26/05/2012 21:50

this is a better shape imo or even this

2to3 · 26/05/2012 21:52

If you're tall and slim like the woman in the pic and it suits your colouring, go for it. If not maybe go for something with an empire line or that's tight around the bust and then skims out around curves.

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 26/05/2012 22:36

It's pretty but in reality I'm not sure what the shape would be like

lunamoon · 26/05/2012 23:34

I agree with 2to3.

SweetEspresso · 26/05/2012 23:37

Lovely colour and pattern. Love maxis, though I go against the grain as I'm not keen on shoulderless tops. Otherwise - gorgeous.

yellowraincoat · 26/05/2012 23:39

Not keen. Maxi dresses are not that attractive on anyone in my opinion. You'd be better off with a top and skirt.

Megatron · 27/05/2012 08:26

Ah I'm thinking it may not be for me then! Though of course, I am exactly like the model in the picture. It's almost uncanny. Grin

I'll chime in -- I don't even think the model looks that good in it. Too much fabric around the waist & hips. Also strapless can be hard to pull off.

For first maxi I would keep on looking.

yellowraincoat · 27/05/2012 10:19

Agree on strapless. It always looks like your dress is about to fall down and there's just something unflattering about the look.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2012 10:37

It's ok but the strapless thing is hard to pull off unless it fits really well over your ribcage.

Hoiking is not attractive.

I don't like it. The colour is nice, but the style is horrible. I think unless you are flat all over, then it will just make you look big all over.

And I agree with strapless being difficult to pull off. I wouldn't dare with a maxi dress tbh - too much potential for a wardrobe malfunction!

upahill · 27/05/2012 13:56

No I don't like it.
It looks ok on the model but it wouldn't look that great on Miss Average.
