Hair Help Please!

Last night I had my brown hair highlighted blonde at the local beauty college, I've had it done there before and it looked so good, but this time it is very very blonde which looks quite stripey against the brown.
The hairdresser said that the colour will settle a bit as I wash it (provided I don't use a blue shampoo) and to avoid getting too much sun on it.
I want to know whether there is anything else I can do to dull it down a bit. Would having brown highlights put in help? or would a home dye brown colour help tone it down all over? The blonde bits are bleach, so not sure what reaction that would be if I put a brown home dye over it?
Any help, would be gratefully appreciated!!
Thanks x

I'd be very hesitant actually i wouldn't do it! about putting a brown hair dye over bleached highlights, it will turn them a khaki green colour! You need to inject a red base colour first before applying a brown to avoid going green.

Having said that, i had some 'yellowy' highlights a few years ago, i didn't like them, they were a mess, some yellow, some white so i used Boot's semi permanent 'Very Light Brown' which didn't turn them green and blended quite well, BUT my overall haircolour was quite a warm reddy brown anyway.

Maybe you could try one of those 'colour effects' colour shampoos about £1.20 and come in a handful of different colours, there's a warm copper gold which is nice, may turn your hair a bit auburny, but it'll wash out. hope this helps x

forgot to say the colour effect shampoos are from superdrug.
