funeral

I will be going to my grandmas funeral in London at the beginning of june, travelling down from Glasgow.

I am a SAHM and have literally nothing to wear. Please help me!

Budget wise I am looking at Primark/New Look as travelling is going to cost loads.

It'll be a pretty formal do so it needs to be smart/appropriate. But being a parsimonious individual it'd be good if I could get further wear.

I'll be wearing flats as I don't do heels. I am 5' 3" 14ish bottom, 12ish top. Big saddlebags on thighs.

Other requirements? Comfy ish for long train journeys, cool, I know it gets sweltering in London. Maybe a bright scarf or something - i like a splash of colour at a funeral.

Please, please help me... :-(

Ps though I say scarf, would it be too hot. How does one even wear a scarf (I never have).

I'm sorry for your loss. Are you OK?

A jersey dress would be handy - it won't crease badly on the journey and is generally pretty cool.

this would probably be a decent length on you

this would be cooler (honest), but you might not want a maxi. A single stitch or pin would solve any cleavage issues with it being cross fronted.

black flats and bright scarf would work with either.

TBH I was llokng for navy but there's not a lot about this season and could see anything formal, cool and in budget (But I only looked at newlook and DP).

Oh, wait here, very nice. cream flats, coral scarf

I'm fine, thanks :-)

I really like that short dress, had actually found something similar. Maxi dresses are a no no, I am too short and even I can tell they make me look odd.

So, short fit and flare black dress from somewhere (def not too scandalous?)

I have some sombre black Mary Jane style flats picked out.

I hate wearing tights - can I wear ankle socks? Or bare feet?

I love the bright scarf - I guess loads of places do them. Are scarves warm - will I roast? Do you just wrap them around or is there some special way of tying them?

Finally, would lightweight blazer or cardi be better over the top? Should thet be black too, or could I get away with say gray?

Not so keen on that East dress, though I guess it is rather more demure :-) I guess I need to go try on to tell.

Is this

m.newlook.com/mcs/publish/2559/28558?name=WORK+WARDROBE&prodid=256585501

Way off the mark? (my grandma loved cats). I know it's short, but the model is a good 5" taller than me. Worth a try on or fugly and too casual?

These

shoes. They're not that smart but I know they'll be super comfy, and I'll get loads of wear out of them.

I have a sort of brown miltaryish style jacket. That'll be too casual won't it.

Would a blazer like this go ok on top?

I'll probably be leaving about 4am so will need something warmish.

Maybe black shawl/pashmina?

The cat print dress looks great, a really sweet idea too. Would go for bare feet with the shoes TBH. And the blazer looks perfect too.

How about a beige-y shawl? - this looks about the colour of the cats.

It'sallgoingtobefine, not clothes related but if you look at Virgin best fare finder, you might get a cheaper ticket between London and Glasgow, sometimes they have real bargains.
