Washing with head and shoulders shampoo will help strip the colour out of it and will lighten it.Otherwise I would go for the brown as it will probably look better than the colour you are now Hmm.Not much help but good luck anyway.

Whats wrong with ginger? Grin

You'll either have to strip it or go brown.

Should add that I dyed my natural blonde hair auburn ginger by choice recently...so that was not a ginge did!

Embrace it, i love mine!

I did exactly the same thing, and then to make matters worse I used one of those colour remover things which made it very ginger warm! I could have just bought some light brown semi to cover it but I decided to be brave and went to a fairly low priced hairdresser. She matched my base colour perfectly with a permanent colour, a sort dark blonde with a hint of golden. It cost £20 and I was very relieved! It still looks great and I go back every six weeks to get my roots done (to cover emerging greys!). Thinking about it, I am spending less money on dye as I'm not buying any other products.

...apologies for typos! If you didn't want to return to your base shade, You could ask for a half head of finely woven highlights instead (more money, but more blonde).
