They are everywhere. I quite fancy lilac/purple skinny jeans but will I look about 12?

Yes. I like them. Only been brave enough for plum ones so far, but considering trying some lighter ones for summer.

chaosisawayoflife · 23/05/2012 19:53

Oh, and the ones I've got are from new look, fit great and only £16.99 with an extra 20% of online today. I think they have Lilac and pink at that price too.

toptramp · 23/05/2012 19:53

Anyone else got them and if so ; what colours? Saw some ok ones on new look website and republic. They are a bit different aren't they.

OOOOO I might go for them with that discount. Is there a code or will it be automatic?

chaosisawayoflife · 23/05/2012 19:55

There's a code. I think it was summer02 but it's on their homepage. Free delivery to store too so nothing to lose!

toptramp · 23/05/2012 20:06

Thanks have ordered them. (Waits with baited breath.) I think as long as I wear them with a fairly neutral colour it will be ok. Either that or go all out tropical.

No offence to anyone but I have a rule along the lines of: If I wouldn't have sought out and bought (for example) mustard coloured skinny jeans six months ago, I'm not going to buy them now just because they're in all the shops. Because in a couple more months I will look at said jeans and think 'What the hell was I thinking?'

But then, I'm deeply unfashionable.

alwaysrunninginheels · 23/05/2012 20:11

I have lavender ones and bright blue, Mhhhh and purple.....loving the coloured denim.

chaosisawayoflife · 23/05/2012 20:11

Which colour did you go for? I have chunky legs so have been too scared to try lighter ones, but really want to bite the bullet.

BornSicky · 23/05/2012 20:12

red Trousers

love this site!

unhelpful I know, but it made me think of it when I saw your thread.

am also quite tempted by some coloured trews.

mrsebojones · 23/05/2012 20:12

Have a look at the SchoolGateStyle Blog who did a fab post on coloured jeans today!

celticlassie · 23/05/2012 20:14

I looked terrible in mine. :(

I bought pink ones and my legs looked like they were encased in condoms.

toptramp · 23/05/2012 20:26

Born sicky; that website is AMAZING! So funny.

Pink are a no no if it's pale - you'll look sausage legged. I got some lovely yellow ones in sainsburys but they bag after first wear so go down a size.

wasabipeanut · 23/05/2012 21:56

I love them but at nearly 36 weeks pg have had to sit this one out :(

Several school mums have them and they all look really good in them - greens and royal blues mainly.

CointreauDactyl · 24/05/2012 00:18

I have a lovely jade green pair, and I'm 45. It's a fairly safe option - not too garish.

Having said that, my mother came round yesterday in a pair of bright cobalt blue skinny jeans, and she's 67. Shock She has just bought some floral print skinnies from Zara too.

LikeItOrNot · 24/05/2012 00:24

Jade green? Plum? Where are these jeans if I can be so cheeky as to ask? Thank you :)

Northumberlandlass · 24/05/2012 07:51

I was a little apprehensive so bought some teal ones from TopShop (Tall), love LOVE them !!
Since then I have bought Raspberry ones...
I couldn't do the 'ice cream' colours - peaches, pale mint, light orange ones...but they aren't my colours.

LetLoveRule · 24/05/2012 08:14

Primark have the most fantastic chinos in all colours - they are slim leg, but not skinny and look great with a slightly turned up ankle. Very, very nice.

BettyBathroom · 24/05/2012 08:24

Love them! And great to get a bit of colour back in your wardrobe - more practical than white.

littledolly · 24/05/2012 08:27

I am quite pear shaped, so think I might be better off with chinos, rather than skinny jeans?!? Will investigate Primark.

dingdong3 · 24/05/2012 20:49

I found chinos worse on me as a pear shape - really emphasise the width at the top of my legs IYKWIM. Today in H&M I tried on dark orange chinos and the same colour in skinny jeans and the skinnies were way more flattering.

I would avoid pastel. Have tried all pastel colours and white jeans actually look better. There's something very washed out about pastels.

mrsebojones mentioned already (thanks!) - lots of great pics on the blog where I asked people to send me pics of how they wear their coloured jeans. Most have gone with darker colours/blues/greens.

oxcat1 · 25/05/2012 00:35

I've got bright orange super-skinnies. I loved them when I bought them and have loved them since but have now noticed that people are indeed generally wearing the darker more muted colours. Been desperately looking out for anybody as bright as me, but clearly everyone else saw sense before purchasing!

I think mine look particularly nice with navy, grey or white.

BettyBathroom · 25/05/2012 07:28

I have bright orange too - I love them, they are a bit of fun and when I wear them I get lots of lovely compliments and they may only be worn for one or two seasons but they were cheap - certainly wouldn't spend a lot of money on them.
