Shorts under skirts? Help!

Hope someone can help here!
Basically, love to wear skirts and dresses in the summer but I desperately need some kind of skin tight shorts to wear under the skirts so that you can't see them, but that cover me up a bit! I have 5 young DD's and am constantly grovelling around on the floor, doing nappies or just generally having a small person under my skirt, and don't always appreciate having my arse shown to the world..
Am thinking something along the lines of some mens trunk style boxers - something skin tight, but short enough so that you can't see the shorts sticking out the bottom!
Thank you in advance :)

Can't help but would be interested to hear what others suggest. I am very unconfident wearing dresses or skirts without tights or leggings.

Also watching with interest Smile

Tesco had some shorts style pants last year, quite high waisted and below the butt cheek at the back- grat under skirts but be carefully the legs don't roll up under trousers. Good wide gusset too!

Evans used to sell some 'tights' which were mid thigh length. Just had a look at their online site but couldn't see any. Might be worth a trip to one of their shops to see if they still do them.

Spankies :) gotta love that name

They sound good nonsense - will have a look when I next there! Just looked online, is it these ? They look brilliant, and maybe I'm being too fussy, but I don't know if I can be bothered with the tummy control bit - always ends up making me feel sick because they are so tight. Its definitely worth a try though - thank you!

Those sound good too zandy - I don't think there is an Evans near me, but I might look online to see where my nearest store is. Thank you too :)

Cycling shorts?
I think M and S have some knee length leggings in at the moment

KateShmate · 22/05/2012 17:33

Have seen knee length leggings in a few places Branching - but still think they would be too long. Not wearing a mini-skirt or anything, but skirt is above the knee and would look awful with leggings sticking out the bottom!

Davina's technical shorts are absolutely perfect, but £22?!

Do we think that these could work? Or would they be a bit baggy?

talkingnonsense · 22/05/2012 18:45

My tesco ones were 2 for £4 and no tummy control- worth a look to see if they have them again? I had pink, turquoise, grey and black!

talkingnonsense · 22/05/2012 18:47

Next ones do look baggy. If you have a sports direct they might have sports/ gym knickers or shorts, at a reasonable price?

mercibucket · 22/05/2012 20:23

Honestly - spandex shorts are the way forward!

KateShmate · 22/05/2012 21:17

bucket where do I get them from? I just dont want any skin coloured ones or ones that could be mistaken for pants! I don't know what is worse - my actual knickers being flashed, or some huge skin-coloured spanx! Grin

nonsense They sound brill! Will have to go and look.

watching with interest. My problem is my inner thighs rub together and it gets really uncomfortable.. I suppose I'm just too fat Sad

The Next ones look like they are too thick. Davinas look perfect except they're made from nylon and would make you hot I think.

Most shorts or leggings are meant to be worn on their own so the waistbands are thick and bulky...

HelloSunshine79 · 23/05/2012 03:02

Jonathan Aston do some shorts made from tights material that look good - I've seen them in JL and keep meaning to get some for this summer. I also have the thigh problem, boo.

KateShmate · 23/05/2012 11:31

I know what you mean joey - and I don't think its because you are too fat! I'm not exactly big (10-12) but just have flabby bits at the top of my thighs!

You are so right with all of that! Thing is, if I just cut some normal leggings up, they wont have elastic at the thigh so will just ride up I reckon. nonsense recommended Sports direct (they have a website) and I found a few pairs that could be suitable - see what you think .

Will check that out Sunshine ! Thanks!

A bit late to this but I saw your thread earlier in the week and realised I too need some shorts under my skirts as am constantly bending down now I have my DTs. American apparel have absolutley loads of shorts in different styles, from very skimpy to cropped cycling shorts
