I am going out in london on Saturday night for a friend's hen night. i think we are going to go for some drinks and to a club (not a particulary serious one, I think it plays cheesy pop music from the 80s and 90s, which is a relief as I am nearly 40). Haven't done that for years, what do people wear?

So I have these trousers. They are extremely flattering as I am quite hippy and quite short. I am happy to wear them a glam top. Or do I have to buy a dress? i know some of the other women will be really glamourous because I have seen pictures of them when they are just at a bbq with kids and ketchup etc and they really make an effort for that.

I have some gorgeous high, red peep toe court shoes which are really comfy. Can I wear black trousers and red shoes and if so what top do I wear. Or do I have to buy a whole new outfit. Happy to spend about £50/60 so would rather wear the shoes or the trousers or both!

Please help. thank you very muchly.

What kind of things do you like? For example, i always tend to pick flowery dresses to go with Jeans/trousers

I think you can wear the trousers and shoes.

Do you like metallics? Any colours you don't like?

NaughtyBusterAndTheBumFactory · 21/05/2012 15:10

And do you like matchy matchy? Like red shoes so you must have a red top or do you like a contrast?

GColdtimer · 21/05/2012 17:17

Thank you Smile Am quite short so dresses and trousers never really work for me. Like metallics and don't mind whether shoes "match" as ling as the overall look works.

Have you got any good jeans you could wear with the shoes? The trousers look a bit too 'sensible work clothes' to me, sorry. Good (dark or black) skinnies, red shoes, black or silvery metallic silk cami/loose top could work.

GColdtimer · 21/05/2012 19:00

Thanks. They do look like a bit sensible in the picture but they are quite dressy. Have worn them to a couple of nights out with tunic type top. They are more like flattering leggings for the heavy of thigh Grin

Any ideas where I could get shimmery metallic top?

Was just looking at this
top
Thinking it would be nice for a night out
Or
vest

GColdtimer · 22/05/2012 09:06

The first one is lovely but a bit pricey for just a top. any idea where to look for a cheaper alternative?

I would wear the shoes and buy a dress, or skirt and top.

I think the trousers look nice for work/day, but run the risk of looking bit "older lady" for the night you describe. Sorry, don't mean to sound rude.

steph124 · 22/05/2012 11:35

How about one of these dresses with your red shoes?

I agree with Marian on the trousers!

Thanks everyone. Will have a good look. Love the black embellished top.

However have just found out it's a beach party theme so can probably go in flowery dress and flip flops!

mummmsy · 22/05/2012 21:20

i would buy a dress for clubbing in London

ProcrastinationEatsTime · 23/05/2012 00:02

this seaside print dress would be utterly perfect No? Shiny silver sling backs?

it needs a petticoat though - smae dress here in blue without.

GColdtimer · 23/05/2012 12:31

Grin @ naughty. Can you imagine.

love the seaside print dress but not sure i could justify £100. Although its a perfect summer dress for lots of occassion and I would get lots of wear out of it..... and have some shiny slingbacks too.

mmm, will think on it and if i don't get something online I have persuaded my mum to Have dd2 on Friday for a couple of hours so I can go shopping as I have loads of ideas now, thank you.
