Getting ready for the sun

I think I may be being overly optimistic, but the weather is set to warm up a little and we may get some sun!

I had some of that Johnson's gradual tan stuff and put some on my legs this morning - it stinks! Is there another gradual tanner for fair skin that is not expensive and smells nice?

Also, what do you wear on a warm day if you want to look casual but not a scruff? I am looking for some shorts, but can't seem to find the right ones.

Do any of you use anything on your hair in the heat? (yes I may be getting carried away here - heat ffs?) My hair is thick and dry and frizzy.

Ooh I was just thinking about braving S&B to ask for similar advice as we are moving somewhere hot in 5 weeks.
I am currently picking some dresses up from EBay - not sure what brands are best to look for.
My legs are a bit chunky so not sure I can do shorts Wink
Can I gate crash ?

MrsNouveauRichards · 19/05/2012 08:03

Please do! Although I am jealous you will actually get some proper sun!

Garnier summer body is very good and only about 4quid. They all stink in my opinion but DH said this one smelled of holidays.

MrsNouveauRichards · 19/05/2012 08:12

Holidays? Is that seaweed, alcohol and coconut? :o

Maybe I should sniff them all. I had Johnson's on a 2 for 1 deal in September last year and thought I had a good deal. Both bottles now binned.

Okay the garnier stuff I am now watching on EBay Grin maybe with a bit of colour my legs will look better especially as my work uniform is white shorts Blush

I think he meant sun tan lotion!

Trouble is, they often smell ok until they start developing- then the biscuity smell creeps in.

ENormaSnob · 19/05/2012 11:41

They all smell IMO but garnier the best one.

I usually put on cotton summer dresses and flat sandals if it's warm at home.

MrsSnaplegs · 19/05/2012 11:45

I've mainly been buying strappy summer cotton dresses or skirts which I can wear with a vest top
Trying not to pay more than £5 per item
Not sure I can do shorts but what should I look for?
5'5 pear shaped size 12 on a good day
Brunette with pale skin and freckles and blue eyes
Any tips ?
