I need make up help please!

I have a wedding to go to next week, I only ever wear mascara and lip gloss, but I feel like Iwant a.bit more make up for this do but I dont know where to start! My skin is a bit greasy on my chin and jaw and quite dryne my forehead and nose. I have lots of freckles will make up cover them up?! I dont want to spend a lots as its just for one day. Tia :)

Worth going to Bare Minerals and asking for a foundation sample. And maybe to Clinique to buy an 'Almost Lipstick' in a subtle colour?

Go to debenhams or John lewis and get colour matched, then get a sample. they don't always offer them, but lancome and armani have new products out and will give them. They will show you how to apply it as well. You will get enough to apply 3 or 4 times so you can practice. Armani i think is only John lewis.

I'd personally go for a tinted moisturiser or light foundation for a few reasons:

1. they are sheerer, so won't look so 'made up' as a fuller coverage one. As you don't normally where make up, really it's more of a 'my face but better' look, rather than full-on mask effect!
2. they are easier to blend so you don't have to worry about tide marks.
3. if you get a bit oily on your T zone but are dry elsewhere, something with added moisture would work well. You could just use a pressed powder but it can look a bit 'dusty'. Also a sheer foundation will wear more evenly.

Also, Boots do Stila - these are brilliant as you can use them for cheeks and lips. Just be sure to use a light hand on your cheeks!

Make sure you ask the make up artist how best to apply the foundation you choose, you may need a sponge. I normally use fingers and buff with a brush for the best finish.

Go to boots and look at loreal or bourjois foundations. They have many different colours and are not too expensive. Use the testers on your jawline to find out which colour matches your skin. Pick up a cheap blusher maybe a natural collection one as its just for the day, they do nice soft pinks and I would wear a translucent powder too but i have greasy skin, if you have dry skin you don't need it.

Defo try and get a sample first - the problem with getting a foundation from Boots or wherever, is that (I find) it's really difficult to get a good colour match. If the lighting is off, or it's really hot, or even if you are wearing a bright top, can make the colours hard to gauge. Not to mention that the mirrors are tiny!

I agree with Natural Collection - I like and use everything except their foundation with is rubbish. Everything is else is under £2 and really really good. Peach Melba is a pretty peach blusher - it's hard to go wrong with it really!

I agree with whackamole, if your not used to foundation, id go for something easy to apply, like a mineral powder foundation, laura mercer does a good one, or a tinted moisturiser.

Failing that go to MAC and get your make-up done, its £25.00 and you also get to take away £25.00's of make up with you aswell! All round winner.

Or, try Cliniques super balanced make-up. It's A-mazing!

Yep, definitely. Call ahead though - you have to make an appointment, it's not something you can just walk in and do.

Yeah, they do Make-up lessons for £50.00 I'm going to one, as I'm trying to save myself £400 by learning to do my eyebrows properly instead of getting them tattooed on!

If you go in on a quiet day and get a nice sales assistant they will often show you how to do things for free! Although, nice sales assistants at Mac are hard to come by!

How about trying BB cream instead - it will sort out the shiny/dry issue, give your skin a dewy look but not feel heavy like a moisturiser.

I use the Garnier one which isn't expensive (about £9 I think) but does a pretty good job.

For lipstick I'd splash out and go to Space NK and try Lipstick Queen. The Saint side of the Saints and Sinners will give you good colour but not too bold iyswim? Also, Space NK is luvverly for a visit anyway!

Get yourself some Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (around £8) as it's quite moisturising and then head to MUA in Superdrug for cheap treats. The lipsticks for £1 have good staying power, I'm a huge fan of their £1 pressed powder (it will control your oily chin) and their triple eyeshadows are £2.50 and quite pigmented for the price!
