Stylish and modest and practical swimsuit?

I don't ask for much....Grin

I'm hoping to take swimming lessons this summer to improve my stroke as I only learnt as an adult and never learned properly. What kind of swimsuits are out there at the moment? So far I've only seen frumpy/mumsy, sporty or very skimpy and scary. Is there anything in between that anyone's aware of? Any good brands you could recommend?

I had my DS 7 months ago and am in reasonably good shape considering. I'm a size 8-10 but I'm not some skinny young girl anymore and I also tend towards the modest end of the scale in terms of skin exposure. Any ideas?

Would Lands End be too mumsy/scary?

Some of their offerings are not too bad and quality is good.

I have just invested in the Seafolly Sophia. It really is a stunning suit - modest sylish and practical - the downside is the price but after exploring countless other options I gave in and I love it! Seafolly in general are well worth looking at.

I have this set from Toast -
top
bottoms

Not cheap (though look out for sales), but meets your criteria I think - covers my pear-shaped bum, looks nice on, nice retro design, really comfortable/good fit and nice quality. Although it's a two-piece, the top overlaps the shorts giving the effect of a swimsuit, but more comfortable, easier to go to toilet etc. It's the first swimsuit I've had that I've really loved and felt "right" in.

(I don't like halternecks so I adjusted mine by sewing the straps to the back to form a vest-style top)

I agree that for something really practical like swimming lessons, as opposed to holidays in the sun, Lands End is well worth considering. I have a couple of their swimsuits for just this purpose.

Thanks, guys, these are really good suggestions, just what I was looking for! I love that Seafolly Sophia Betty, it's so cute! I will take a look on all the sites and see what would work best in terms of price, delivery etc.
