I swear to god I have seen the same suit as that in Tesco for £30.

linky link please?! (to Carla, not Tesco. Or both, if feeling generous).

That is totally UNFAIR. It's clearly Next circa 1988. I can feel myself sweating in it even now.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 15:39

Oh yes you are right. It is a Next suit. I bet she crackled with the static as soon as she put it on and it made her hair all flyaway.

She normally wears really great clothes. Where the hell did she unearth that monstrosity?

I don't like the flats she always wears. Shoot me.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 15:47

It is because of little Sarko.

She looks a little larger than she used to be in it - not flattering. Or maybe she's expecting again ...

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 16:23

It is just such an ugly suit. The kind of thing that would make you look in the mirror and think 'cripes' and vow to burn it. Not to go to the Elysee Palace.

OP posts:
NorbertDentressangle · 16/05/2012 16:28

I don't know about the suit but I think she needs to ease off on the botox and fillers.

She used to be lovely looking but is starting to resemble the Wildenstein (??) woman who had all that plastic surgery.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/05/2012 16:33

I agree it is a Next suit. I am certain that Next still sells it.

polyhymnia · 16/05/2012 16:43

I think Carla has, as part of a misplaced PR campaign, made a huge effort during the election to dress down to what she reckons 'normal' people wear and avoid charges that they are a bling-bling couple. As it didn't pay off, she will now be able to go back to what a mega-rich heiress and ex-model usually wears. No doubt a relief.

Think Hollande's DP looks rather better.

snappysnappy · 16/05/2012 16:45

Its definitely Next. I thought she might be pregnant again. Or is really struggling to lose that baby weight

polyhymnia · 16/05/2012 16:45

Also, the fact that Hollande is pretty short hasn't deterred her from wearing high heels.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 17:05

I would hae thought though polymnia that if that was the case she would have shown up to the handover in a fuck off Dior couture dress or something, as a two fingered gesture.

I know nowt about French politics, but she always seems to be an amiable looking woman. Is she not like in France?

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 17:06

I love the whole Hollande/Trierweiler/Royal thing - can't imagine that ever happening in the UK.

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 16/05/2012 17:51

I think there are those who have seen a toouch of Marie Antoinetted about her ...

Agree on interest of Hollande, etc set-up. Most un-British. Like a plotline in a soap.

polyhymnia · 16/05/2012 17:51

Antoinette - not a verb, even in French!

lumbago · 16/05/2012 18:29

she looks very fat = or UTD

bluerodeo · 16/05/2012 18:30

she looks incredibly fat?
hasn't she had a baby recently?

that's a bit mean

Lottapianos · 16/05/2012 18:35

I could never understand the fuss about Carla Bruni for the life of me. I have never seen her as anything more than pretty, I can't see the raving beauty thing at all. She looks absolutely frightful these days thanks to fillers and Botox and heaven knows what - poor thing

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 16/05/2012 18:44

I feel sorry for her, she's had a baby in her 40s and gone from being feted for her beauty and married to the premier (didn't she also release a record? Not sure how that was received) to looking, well, normal, and her husband being voted out. From designers fighting to dress her I doubt the phone is ringing any more, and it looks to me like she doesn't know how to dress for her new shape. Kind of reassuring for us normal mortals that even models don't bounce back after birth, but must be hard for her.

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2012 18:44

I saw this and thought - thank goodness, a famous woman who doesn't feel the need to appear instantly toned and flat/taut tummied 2 nanoseconds after giving birth. And who looked actually quite happy. Smile

GnocchiNineDoors · 16/05/2012 18:48

She looks like a Normal.

Get0rfMoiLand · 16/05/2012 18:52

She does look happy doesn't she.

I don't really feel sorry for her, before marrying Sarkozy I think she was a feted Italian heiress anyway. Perhaps she is relieved to get out of the political limelight.

I am just staggered that anyone would wear that awful suit. In Paris. We need Bonsoir on this thread.

lumbago · 16/05/2012 18:53

( whispers - i haev a suit like that - i dont wear it at the elysee palace though)
