Help!

I need to "tidy up" down below but I'm not really sure what the done thing is. Wax is a no no. Do most people shave, trim, veet or wax? I've shaved before but can't be doing with the stubbly stuff that comes within a couple of days.

I need to get Bikini ready and would appreciate any advice.

I'm vaguely tempted to get a wax but the thought of exposing my inner bits & perineum is too horrific....
I use Veet, longer than it's recommended time but only apply it to the more..sensitive bits halfway through the time.
My epilator is bearable on my legs but I almost had an emotional breakdown using it on my armpits and it didn't even look like any hairs had been ripped out! So using it on my fanny is out of the question. I feel nervous just typing about it!

I get sore bumps and lumps too especially under arms. Twice they have erupted into really nasty skin infections that needed ab's

I have tried with oil and moisturising after and everything, but it happenes EVERY time. Have nearly given up wearing short sleeves.

If you shave your bits or your puts and get red bumps/in growing hairs you need to exfoliate regularly!

I've been shaving down below for years and exfoliate with a flannel and any old body scrub once a week.

DH says it's like a billiard ball Wink

catinboots · 16/05/2012 20:07

*pits not puts

orangeandlemons · 16/05/2012 20:29

Do you do this pre shaving or after? Doesn't scrubbing with rough stuff make it worse?

savy57 · 16/05/2012 20:29

been looking in to this EMLA cream all the chemist online say u need a perscription for it boots lloyds etc... can anybody help i go away at weekend so need it by saturday

Pelicano · 16/05/2012 20:41

Emla. I have tried this, and felt no difference whatsoever. I can epilate my bikin line though (through gritted teeth) and have a low pain threshold.

Retromum, come back and tell us fanjo shaving novices if you shave with or against the grain please!

I would happily shave every day if my poor fanjo didn't end up looking like I have an std! Confused

catinboots · 16/05/2012 21:34

Against the grain! Scrub after shaving Grin

MissFoodie · 16/05/2012 22:42

there was another thread about this (fanjo on fire) - myself and mrsmartin are guilty for recommending veet for brazilian, app it didn't work for thread poster but we do it every week without any problems!

catinboots · 17/05/2012 07:48

Also if you shave every day and persist with it you'll stop getting the shaving bumps. You'll probably get loads to start but persevere Grin

Grockle · 17/05/2012 07:51

I'm having IPL to get rid of it permanently. It's expensive but for some reason my overgrown ladygarden was really bothering me. I'm very happy with it.

RetroMom · 18/05/2012 12:56

Fate, as cat says, shave against the grain, which means, shave in all directions because unlike most body hair, pubic hair does not only grow in one direction. Use an exfoliater every day and moisturising is key!
