jeans for an apple shape

Can anyone recommend jeans to try if you re an apple shape?

I am fed up with jeans that are baggy on hips/bottom, fall down due to too much lycra and just not fitting properly.

My waist is a bigger size than my hips, so most jeans, to fit on the waist, are miles too loose on my bottom/hips. Oh and I like a high waist too - none of this low slung jeans please!

Surely someone makes jeans for women my shape? I am getting to the point where I will try mens jeans soon!

Have you tried maternity jeans? I've known a few people online who've discussed the topic of apple shapes and jeans and said they've found their perfect fit with the early stage maternity jeans (so, not the over-the-bump sort). I think it's worth trying, if your waist size is bigger than your hips. Almost all designers make women's jeans so that the hips are larger than the waist, so unless you go the extremely low-cut route, you might not have much luck.

I'm just putting this out there. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion!

umm hadn't thought of maternity jeans. Not sure about that though as I had the same problem with maternity jeans when pg - falling down, baggy on bum etc. I didn't know you could get early pg ones though...

Can't help I'm afraid but I have the same problem so would love to know the answer! All my jeans either fit my hips/bum but cut my fat belly in half or need constant hoicking up to avoid the baggy bum look. Currently pg and really not looking forward to post baby jeans shopping, might just stay in my leggings!

Interestingly quite a few of the reviews say they are too tight on the waist! LOL

Next jeans seem to be cut to suit apple shapes, and I recently got some from Evans which are not too low slung and stay up!

Levi's Demi curve are good on me, the slim leg one is high waisted so I actually got a 12 and went for a longer length leg. I've been having the same problem for years since having children, i hate low rise jeans with a passion - the're so unflattering. Pilates is starting to help a bit.

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 13/05/2012 23:17

Oh if you do try the levi's go for some with a snug fit, they give a bit once worn.

Gap boot fit. The only ones that work for me!

cece · 13/05/2012 23:28

I have to go and try some different ones on aren't I?

At levi's store a lovely assistant helped me find the right pair and size, I ended up wearing a size smaller with a higher waist and they fit perfectly - I would never have thought to try them by myself. I think some gap stores do personal shopper sessions and certainly John Lewis have personal shoppers, it might be worth going for a try on with help there?

madmomma · 14/05/2012 11:49

Gap curve work for my flabby apple. And nothing else does. Good luck and please report back.

I think I need a child free shopping trip. Grin
