Omg I'm 30 and on the slippery slope to middle age, today I wore..

A slip for the first time and I'm bloody converted Hmm I wear a lot of 50's style full circle dresses usually with a net or tulle petticoat at night but without during the day. Yesterday after a flashing incident on Yarmouth seafront my mil recommended wearing a slip just to cover my dignity and I'm converted! Today's dress hangs lovely with it underneath and I didn't have to worry about any gusts catching me unawares.

Oh heck, that's just facilitating fabulousness. The other day I "quite liked" something in Per Una. So ashamed.

StellaAndFries · 13/05/2012 19:50

It's a slippery slope, it started with wearing cardigans (of the cropped short sleeve variety) and now slips, next it will be orthopaedic sandals from the newspaper supplements because they are comfortable and 'stylish' Shock

Hotter shoes and those bras with no fastenings..that's when you need to get worried.

SingingSands · 13/05/2012 20:00

Oh God, I got sucked into a JML advert for those stretchy bras, I was goggle eyed and starting to think how great they seemed when the cat fell off the windowsill, which startled me back to reality Grin

MrsMeow · 13/05/2012 20:13

It'll be elasticated jeans that go in at the ankles before you know it!

I know the feeling though, I'm 32 and have been debating whether or not I should dye my hair a 'normal' colour, remove my piercings and start shopping in BHS :(

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 13/05/2012 20:19

I love people watching on Yarmouth seafront Grin

MayaAngelCool · 13/05/2012 20:26

I buy shoes at Clarks and Hush Puppies.

Sad

There is no hope.

perplexedpirate · 13/05/2012 20:27

I love slips too! Everything does hang better.
I am also considering dyeing my hair a normal colour.

It's all over for me isn't it?

autumnchild · 13/05/2012 20:30

Oh no! I was considering buying a slip and also interested in the jml bras - are they any good?

Sad
Mrsrobertduvall · 13/05/2012 20:33

Elasticated "slacks" is the term you need MrsMeow.

Horlicks and a digestive before bed anyone?

MrsMeow · 13/05/2012 20:36

Ah, slacks, I should have known that!

I've just bought big knickers from M&S as well and retired my thongs for good.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 13/05/2012 20:38

What's a slip? Is it a type of petticoat?

StellaAndFries · 14/05/2012 08:23

This is a slip.

My pillar box red fringe is still here to stay so hopefully I still have a smattering of cool...

Those JML bras - I bought one and yes, they are very comfy, but they give bugger-all support.

Eliza22 · 14/05/2012 09:24

As long as its not an "18 hour girdle" you're ok.

Having said that, the fabulous Dita Von T has made girdle wearing an art form and career so.....

I had a sneaky peak at your profile, just to see if you were old before your time. You look amazing to me, and ALL those children! Wear the slip. Who cares!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 14/05/2012 09:36

Oh. What are slips made of? It looks nylon-y. Is it possible to get one that doesn't have lace from a past era at the bottom?

GnocchiNineDoors · 14/05/2012 09:38

Oh ladies

lurkingaround · 14/05/2012 10:00

I am the proud wearer of a slip today. I haven't ventured into big pants yet, but I'm ooh so tempted.....Blush

StellaAndFries · 14/05/2012 14:40

I wear big pants but I do have a big arse to contain Grin
