Do you cleanse, tone and moisturiser...

..even if you haven't worn make-up that day?

I always do this in the mornings and always if I've been wearing make-up. But I haven't been wearing make-up much lately (because I've been at home, not because I've given up!) and wonder if I still need to go through the whole routine at night too?

I never have.

Facial wash and moisturise, every morning and night.

ameliagrey · 13/05/2012 19:54

No toner. waste of money. All it does is remove excess cleanser. Use warm water/cotton wool.

AThingInYourLife · 13/05/2012 20:03

Oh, I love toner as long as it isn't too astringent.

Is it really a waste?

upahill · 13/05/2012 20:05

I don't tone but to cleanse and moisturize twice a day.

I would say it is what ever works for you!

EllenParsons · 13/05/2012 20:09

Yes, I do it regardless of whether I wore makeup. I do wear makeup almost every day anyway, but IMO a cleansing routine is about taking care of your skin, not just about washing off makeup! I use a separate makeup remover before I cleanse, because I want to cleanse my actual skin.

Oh and re: toner, what I use is a "clarifying lotion" which is more of a liquid exfoliator than a plain toner. I love it and definitely don't think it's a waste. It leaves my face so smooth!

Krumbum · 13/05/2012 20:19

I wish I could be bothered to be diligent about it. When I'm doing I right I wash my face in shower, tone, spot treatment and moisturiser then exfoliate a few times a week. What is this exfoliating toner ellenparsons? It sounds good.

ameliagrey · 13/05/2012 20:47

Is the clarifying lotion by Clinique? I use their cleansers and moisturisers but never the toner- IMO you can get just as good results with damp flannel or a muslin cloth. Or by using a facial scrub once a week.

IHeartKingThistle · 13/05/2012 20:50

I use the Clinique one too and I love it too - facial soap, clarifying lotion then no.7 moisturiser. I had bad skin for many many years and 3-step has made such a difference. Every day, makeup or not!

AnEcumenicalMatter · 13/05/2012 20:54

Yes. Every morning and evening although sometimes I skip the evening if I haven't worn make-up that day.

EllenParsons · 13/05/2012 21:39

Amelia yes its the Clinique one. I never use any kind of flannel. Heard Sali Hughes on the radio the other week going on about the benefits of the flannel but I just never fancy using one! I do like a good scrub too but tbh I am quite stuck in my ways with the clarifying lotion Grin
