Recommendations for plus size wedding dress

I've been looking online at plus size dresses but just wanted some reccommendations for some places that sell quality dresses, either in shops or online. I like tea length or empire line, long lace dresses with sleeves. Where did other plus size ladies (im about a size 22/24) get their wedding dresses?

There is a fabulous shop in Castleford, Yorkshire, that only stocks size 16+, have a look at the website for ideas and inspiration. They list all the designers that make plus size gowns and also stock loads to try on, totally worth a trip ooooop north for! It's The Big Day UK.

Hi - I bought mine from here (a couple of hours from my home but was well worth it): About a Bride - they had a great selection and I think with your size you'll have the most choice when trying sample dresses on.

The lady in the shop made a very good point saying it is better to buy dresses made by plus size designers instead of scaling up dresses made in 'regular' sizes and I do think she's right.

I think you have to make an appointment instead of just turning up (things might have changed from a couple of years ago though). Keep an open mind and try lots on. What I ended up with, I didn't expect to like it but it blew me away. Mine was by "Bonny Bridal". Absolutely beautiful and a bargain as it was in the sale.

Congratulations by the way!

I had a Jenny Packham which was quite straight and covered with lace. That was in a 22

Where are you based? There is a lady in Catford who specialises in plus size styles - Heavenly Bodies www.heavenlybodiesbridal.com/

Not been there but heard great reviews on 'that' wedding forum site Wink.

Most dresses can be ordered in any size, but if you want to try stuff on that will fit it might be nice to go to a specialist shop where everything will fit you and then you can make a better, more informed choice.

I sell tea length dresses (I'm in the north west) and have sold to a number of plus size brides.
