maternity frock for day at the races - where to look in the depths of beyond?

Hello
Style is not my natural habitat so apologies if this is something which comes up a lot/in the wrong place!

I've been invited to a day at the races in June, when I'll be about 22 weeks pregnant. Bump fairly big already as this is DC2. I have no frocks suitable and not much idea where to look for one. I am reluctant to buy anything without trying it on, so I need to know which shops have the best maternity departments and if anyone could recommend anywhere to start?

I am in the far end of nowhere but could get to Newcastle, Glasgow or Edinburgh. Would like as many options to try things on as possible - locally we have a small New Look or Mothercare, neither of which is inspiring.

In real life (ie when not pregnant!) I would normally wear White Stuff, Monsoon or random hippy-ish stuff if choosing a frock and I have fat arms but good legs so something short with cap sleeves seems like a safe bet. It needs to be brightly coloured!

All advice gratefully received!

this with the belt tied above the bump would be lovely, I'm sure it'd dress up or down so you'd get plenty of use out of it.

Sorry, exact opposite of what you asked for, shape wise Blush

THis is just so flattering that I HAVE to link. Add bright broach / corsage, shoes and bag in contrasting colours?

Thankyou very much for suggestions - I do like that first monsoon one MrsLettuce - the colour is exactly right! I will probably have to find something to cover my builder's arms whatever I get, so I guess maybe no sleeves would be ok...

UML - that's great too - thankyou. Considerably more sophisticated than my usual attempts at formal stuff! The cocoon dress is gorgeous.
