I've previously had loads of bleached highlights in my brown hair. I had my hair dyed back brown in the salon back in january and I'm really happy with it. The problem is Ive had to go over it so many times since. It fades out after only a few washes. I've been using colour protect shampoos and conditioners but nothing seems to work. I don't want to continue colouring it so much because of the damage and I'm trying to grow it so was wondering if there is any sort of colour depositing shampoos available that work? my hair is a reddy brown but the highlighted bits fade to dull light brown. I remember something by wella called 'shaders' which might work for me but cant seem to find them in the shops. Anyone help???

Do you want it to be brown or reddy? There are colour depositing shampoos for both brown and red hair that build up colour with use. John frieda do one and some brands in boots, I think botanics do one too, they are good and gently colour with lots of shine.

I've looked and couldn't find any except really expensive ones. i'm glad to hear boots do one. I really want to deposit a reddy colour as that's the tone my brown hair loses quickly and becomes dull. fed up of having to dye every few weeks!

Someone posted about Aveda black malva recently - apparently it's good as a brown dye, maybe they'll pop up later.

I've checked boots and cant find anything that actually deposits colour. They dont seem to sell those old fashioned "shaders or toners" anymore that used to come in a sachet. I wonder why?

you could be right there Pelicano. I hadn't thought of that.
