Hair out of my face without looking like a ponytail face lift

I don't normally post on style and beauty, so please me nice to me.
I want to have some kind of up-do which doesn't require me to have a couple of perfect ringlets carefully falling out, but which also doesn't look like a ponytail face lift. I don't want to have any hair in my face at all because it just doesn't work for me when I leave a bit of hair down. I don't dress up very often so I don't mind too much if it takes a bit of doing. Any suggestions?

How long's your hair, and do your have layers?

No layers. It's about shoulder length and quite curly.

Can't help Teddy but hope you'll get some suggestions soon. Failing that it might be worth googling. I've had lots of hairstyle ideas doing that in the past.

I have a similar style at the moment and often wear a headband thing to keep my hair out my face. I hate the pony tail face lift, and found this was a nice intermediary between that and having my hair down and getting in the way of everything
