Do any of you buy clothes for yourself from the children section? Where is good to try?

I've just been to Matalan to get some cheap t-shirts for the DC, whilst in the children section I saw these skinny jeans. They are just the colour I have been looking for and only £12, they looked good on. Age 14 were just right, tbh age 15 were fine too except I was too short for them Blush

So that got me thinking, where else should I try for cheap, VAT-free clothes?

I have some lovely 100% cotton cardigans from Sainsbury's school uniform dept. £6 each (age 12)

ShopaholicSuzie · 11/05/2012 20:41

Soooo glad it isn't just me, I was a bit nervous of posting that I was going to buy children's clothes!

love the idea of school uniform cardigans and children's shoes I bet I'd fit too, I'm a size 4.

I often browse the teen sections of H&M and Johnnie B, a def plus of having a boyish hips & a flat chest!!

Posey · 11/05/2012 21:01

Gap boys. I have bought a couple of jackets from there.
Shoes from H&M girls.
Socks from M&S boys.

ShopaholicSuzie · 11/05/2012 21:10

New Look. Most of the 'basic' items in my wardrobe (like cardigans, leggings and jumpers) are from their teen range.

WelshCat · 11/05/2012 21:58

Next do amazing dresses up to a size 12/13 which fit size 8 adults. Depends on your style though!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 11/05/2012 22:02

All you beautiful tiny dancers! The only thing in the childrens section that might fit me is the Scarves Sad fatty bum-bum that I am.

ShopaholicSuzie · 11/05/2012 22:05

Believe me, I'm no dancer! I'm about as graceful as a hippo!

I've bought some lovely coloured jeans from H&M in their biggest children's size is 170cm but I'm not sure what age that's supposed to be? I'm a size 8, 5' 7" and they fit beautifully.

mrsebojones · 12/05/2012 08:02

I was in next the other day and tried on a children's berghaus jacket in age 11-12. fit and sleeve length great. It was £50. The same thing would have been well over £80 in the adult section.
Johnny b small or medium usually fits fine.

4aminsomniac · 12/05/2012 08:25

Can't find a sizing chart for Boden teen girls! I am 5'6"and size 8, what size would I be?

NotMostPeople · 12/05/2012 08:57

I have a jumper from Johnnie B, I bought the largest size and it fits perfectly, I'm a 14/12.

Pelicano · 12/05/2012 19:50

I'm 10/12 and buy the L from johnnie B

AWomanCalledHorse · 12/05/2012 19:54

Next boys Jeans. Although I like quite a baggy fit.
Next Girls shoes for low/kitten heels work/casual shoes.

I tried buying some childrens trainers in JD Sports 5 years ago, the assistant was all 'Oh, but the womens trainers are much better quality'..which I repeated loudly to all the parents buying their children trainers. Grin Only just thrown the trainers away (and that was due to my feet getting wide).

Boys/Girls Berghaus on Amazon is v.cheap.

Loving this thread, I've been wondering whether I could buy kids clothes for a while now. I'm fed up of ladies stuff ALWAYS being too long.

Can I ask what height / size you are ladies. What would an age 14 equate to for example?

bigTillyMint · 12/05/2012 20:38

Decathlon age 14 tops/jackets usually fit me, but the trousers are too short.

I have never tried proper fashion shops - I just think it would all look a bit ridiculous on someone old enough to be a granny even if it did fit!

bigTillyMint · 12/05/2012 20:39

I am a tall size 12 (10/12 when I haven't been stuffing my face for monthsBlush)
