Clothes for a week in Italy

In June I am off to spend a week at a beautiful spa/ villa complex in Italy with a friend (minus my dh and dc!). I am very excited about it, but my spring /summer wardrobe is more suited to camping than Tuscan chic iykwim. Any suggestions which won't break the bank? I am 40, 5 foot 6 and a size 14, pretty large of norkage. Thanks!

couple of swimsuits and/or bikinis
tunics
flat sadals
perhaps heels for dinner
nice dinner frock

will you be working out at spa -- trainers/ exercise clothes

Have fun -- I'm jealous.

Bit random, but I remember being in Rome in the sweltering heat and the chicest ladies were wearing black - so sophisticated somehow. All the brits (me) were flobbing around in bright "summer colours" with their (my) enormous knees out looking a bit sweaty and dusty and the Italian women striding about in beautiful, simple, elegant black. Lightweight cotton and linen. Flowing. Huge sunglasses, big hat, and lots of big jewellery to add a bit of sparkle/panache. So flattering too. Lovely. xx

Good advice. I'm not so keen on bright colours anyway.

If you want to fit in: skintight white jeans with your white thong showing through, high heeled platform sandals, lipliner a' la Nancy Dell Olio......if your dh was coming he would need bright orange jeans to be worn with any clashing colour possible, preferable something like acid green.

I imagine the chic ladies wildflowers saw were French. Grin

Eek! Not skinny enough for skin-tight white jeans. Liking the idea of the flowing, elegant look though.

Ha ha! Yes, maybe they were...

I was in Florence in June. Unprepared for the rain and cold.
