'Grecian' style evening dress for a really posh do - not black - any ideas?

I need anew dress for another of DHs 'do's'. We're generally the youngest there by 10 years or so (and we're not young!). The older women we all be in ballgowny type things, which I WILL NOT entertain.

I have the idea of something Grecian-y. Minimal, drapey, relatively bling-free...

Anyone seen such a thing?

Pleeeeeeeaaase?

I thank you in advance...

P.s I'm 5ft2", size 10, slim but curvy, if that helps. Of course it may lead you all to tell me that I've lost my mind even considering the above and it will look TERRIBLE...

Ok, so I bought a dress today! Not exactly Grecian, (sorry!) but it is lovely...

this

It's a bit like the Ted Baker one, but actually looked better on. The TB one was pleated all the way through, this one smoothed out around the middle and was pleated above and below which was more flattering to a curvier frame.

I am considering taking off the fabric 'belt' around the middle and instead using something like this:

gold belt or this obi belt

Yes, no?

Whatever I do, I'm going to need shoes - gah! I have evening shoes in black, grey and red... none of which will work with this frock.

I'm thinking jewellery-wise a cuff of some kind? Minimalist kind of thing. I have a gold clutch.

Advice, please, ladies if you can bear it!?

Belt or no belt? Shoes? Jewellery?
Or do you just think I've made a terrible choice?

A lot of the 'grecian' ones I tried on ended up being a bit shiny and 'hollywood' IYKWIM. Not really me, I'm more of a minimalist.

I just have to pull off the rest of the bits and bobs now...
You've all been wonderful.

Glad you found the right dress.

Love the front of the gold belt, but think the back spoils it. Not so sure on the obi - it would really need to tone with your clutch to get away with it (some fabrics are more silvery gold and some are more yellow gold).

You could always go for an old style dress watch - round face, skinny gold strap, hangs slightly loose on the wrist for arm jewellery either.

There was a dress in the You magazine that reminded me of this thread it was a desgner one at Hoss Intropia. Was quite expensive though

Moonlight - I was wondering - do you think I could get away with the grey shoes and silver accessories instead?

Or what do you think of these shoes?

Just weighing my options...

I think silver and grey / pewter would go very nicely with that shade of blue.

The shoes you've linked to look a bit 'daytime'. If they are dressier in RL then yes, they would work. If not, would any of these suit?

M&S fuschia for a 'colour pop'
pewter - style goes with the pleats in the dress
Coast bright silver
would work well with a lot of things
