What colour shoes and bag for a purple evening dress?

Have bought a purple evening dress - its made with chiffon so is quite floaty. I need to get new shoes but I can't decide if I should go for colour blocking - at the moment I'm thinking pillar box red, deep pink or teal. Or would purple/grey/navy be more sensible?

The same for a clutch bag - should it be purple or be the same colour as the shoes?

I'd wear black but I'm boring!
Just be careful as my mil wore purple dress, shrug, shoes, bag and tights to my wedding and looked like a giant quality street!!

Not navy, and purple could be hard to get good match/toning.

Would silver work?

I am not keen on black with purple (the same with black with red) as it cheapens the look.
Is silver a bit old lady?

Silver sandals would be good, shoes less so. Red bag with silver I'd say. Or teal and a soft gold /old gold bag

It's hard to say without seeing the dress, these are nice and simple. More detail might be good if it's shorter.

I think you mean pewter? A bit like this or the Dune sandles there are lovely.

Its knee length - more of a cocktail dress. Bought it on ebay so can't link it.

Love the pewter idea - it will be a practical choice as I wear greys as a neutral.
