Help! Need new work wardrobe!

I go back to work in a couple of weeks after a year's mat leave. I went through my old work clothes this afternoon & have realised that they either don't fit (surely they must have shrunk?) or I don't like them.

I am size 12-ish, just turned 40 & work in IT in an office full of men. I have no desire to be very trendy, but at the same time don't want to be Mrs Frump. I don't have to impress clients or any malarkey like that, so no need for any power dressing, just smart boring, and professional. My office is also very cold, so bare arms or legs are out of the question.

My standard wardrobe for years was black trousers & a shirt. I like slim fit trousers, but struggle to find ones that are big enough to fit over my thighs, but not be too loose at the waist, so usually go for wide fit ones like these But I can't find any shirts or blouses I like any more as they all seem to be covered in frills.

As an added complication, I have recently (this morning) discovered I am pg Grin so I need tops that not only disguise my current flabby belly, but will also hide the baby bump when it starts showing.

I am rubbish at buying clothes. I have a wardrobe full of items that I like, but am no good at getting things together into an outfit (this is why I liked the trousers & shirt combo) Can you suggest some outfits to me? Or places I should look for ideas/clothes? I'm going into our town centre tomorrow so I can try a load of stuff on in the limited shops we have (M&S, Next, Debenhams, New Look, DotP, Warehouse, River Island) But I am also happy to order stuff online to try at home.

Lk Bennett
Hobbs
Phase eight

How about a wrap dress and a chunky necklace?
Pencil skirt with shirt and wide belt?
Knitted dress?
Linen shirt dress?

Thanks itdidntworkout - Unfortunately I don't have any of those shops in town so will have to look online.

I can't walk in a pencil skirt - my stride is too big! Grin & I hate linen. I've had some linen trousers & skirts before & as soon as I sit down (bear in mind I spend most of my work day sat on my arse) they get horribly creased & look crap.

I do like the idea of a dress, but won't that just make my fat belly show more?

Try some wrap dresses on they would work. Everybody raves about Isabella Oliver either buy from the website or ebay for cheaper prices .
