matching shoes and bag?

I'm wearing a purple dress for a wedding and probably nude wedge heels - would a nude bag be too 'matchy'? I'm broke so whole outfit isn't what i'd choose ideally but i feel quite good in it (tesco and ebay bargains).

Anyway, bag help needed! Dress has some cream in ut, i do have a lovely creamy bag i could use, or an oyster sparkly ine but not sure. Its yonks since i've had to dress for anything formal.

I know the shoes are a bit kate middleton (and older royals, eek!) but they were cheap, are comfy and i like them.

Tia stylish ones.

IMHO matching bag and heels is pretty dated and best avoided. Others would disagree.

Could you maybe pop photos of the dress, shoes and bags you already have on your profile?

I agree with MrsLettuce - a rather dated and boring look - though probably plenty of people think it's absolutely OK.

MrsLettuce · 08/05/2012 16:07

Yes, but if money is short and you've got something matchy that works just go with it. 'tis rather like fascinators - well on the way out but still widely worn - nobody is going to look at you as if you're a freak if you do go matching.

That said, if you need to buy a bag go bright.

Am on phone so cant link but the dress is from f&f tesco and its called circle print shift dress. Looks much better in.the flesh. Online its described as blue but mine is most def purple. Have a really nice off white blazer from gap to wear with it and patent wedge mules iff ebay. I can wear the dress for work.in.summer and had tesco clothing credit note to use up. Im suprised by how flattering and nice it is on! For the wedding i could buy a cheap purple bag off ebay, or cream, or silver? Would have to be cheap (tenner). Will also scour the charity shops at the weekend. Dont have a nude bag, just saw one on ebay.

Rarely get to go out dressed up and confidence at a big low due to lots of crap so i want to feel gidd iyswim. Even on a budget. I want to be thete feeling like i put a outfit together pretty well dedpite my limited budget and rock bottim self esteem. Will be lots of v glam, types there. Am 35, size 12, short arse if it helps, cant see it will with a bag but you never know!

Red is perfect IMHO. I did have a look around but only found a nasty green bag (green is good with purple, but it was a nasty green) and another lesser red satin bag in budget.

Are you putting your hair up? Dare I suggest popping a single bright red flower (rose??) in it?

Pompbear · 09/05/2012 09:34

Hair will be down, not sure i could carry off a flower. Shoes and dress look fab together, just tried on. V v impressed with my bargain outfit so far!

Will search for a red bag and report back later!
