Tinted moisturiser...where do I start?

I've been led to believe that tinted moisturiser is a relatively easy alternative to foundation but how do I choose a good one that's the right shade? I'm a bit hopeless with make up!

I've just bought the Liz Earle skin tint. Heavier than a tinted moisturiser but lighter than a foundation . Love it. You can get samples of the 3 shades available.

If you want a really cheap one Nivea is good. Avoid the Clarins one, I normally love their stuff but the tinted moisturiser was rubbish

Russianred · 04/05/2012 21:46

Laura Mercier is very, very good. Lasts for ages and is about £34 (I've had my current one for 6 months, use it 3-4 times a week and there is about half left, I'd say).

Benefit's You Rebel is perfect and such good coverage, SPF15 as well :)

EllenParsons · 04/05/2012 21:53

I like the Clinique moisture surge tinted moisturiser. Go to the counter and ask them to test the shade on your jaw to make sure it's right. I also have the Laura Mercier one and think it's quite good, but I prefer the Clinique and it is also about a tenner cheaper.

SkivingAgain · 04/05/2012 21:54

I'm a recent convert to L'Oreal BB nude - it is tres excellent.

Russianred · 04/05/2012 21:55

I used to use You Rebel too and would agree it is very good, but I found the colour a little bit too orangey; only marginally so, mind.

blondiedollface · 04/05/2012 22:09

They do two shades of Your Rebel now, You Rebel and You Rebel Light - the light one is less 'orangey' more of a creamy colour :)

whackamole · 04/05/2012 23:06

I like the Benefit one too. I use You Rebel Light. Nice and creamy, and a bit more coverage than others I have tried.

Another vote for Laura Mercier. If you can go to a Space NK where you can try out that and other good brands and get advice.
Bobbi Brown also good and you can try it out at their counters.

dingdong3 · 05/05/2012 00:10

I just got the Liz Earle tester and loving it too - just used it today and well impressed. :)

snowmummy · 05/05/2012 00:13

The Bobbi Brown one is lovely

Maraki · 05/05/2012 07:23

Another vote for Liz Earl. I'm not a fan of tinted moisturisers as I like some coverage but this is great

Neverever · 05/05/2012 08:38

I love the Nivea one, it's cheap and everyone comments on how great I look when I wear it.

wolvesarejustoldendaydogs · 05/05/2012 08:42

Sunsense (available on Amazon) with SPF 50+ tinted moisturiser is good.

MrsPnut · 05/05/2012 08:47

The MAC one is brilliant, better coverage than most but not too mask like and it was only £20 which is less than I was spending on the Dior I was using before.

I have some samples of the Liz Earle one but haven't used them.

SearchSquad · 05/05/2012 08:51

How do I buy the Liz Earle Skin Tint testers? Is it available online?

squashedbanana · 05/05/2012 09:01

I use the MAC tinted moisturiser and really like it, though it's the only one I have tried I have nothing to compare it with. But I am going to stick with it as can't fault it, it's lovely and oil free which is a bonus

jalopy · 05/05/2012 12:02

Here

zandy · 05/05/2012 12:13

Having the samples 'available with your first purchase' seems a bit wrong. Surely you need the samples in order to corectly choose your first purchase?
