What should I buy from Avon?

Got a catalogue through the door yesterday from one of the neighbours and thought I'd buy a few bits and bobs but yowser, they have a very diverse set of products.

I'd like either skincare, body goop or makeup for eyes or lips (but not gloss). Or maybe some sunscreen too.

Thanks!

I order loads from Avon. I think their best products are the glimmersticks, eyeshadows and their Anew skincare is also very good.

I dont really wear lipstick so cant comment on them but I dont personally rate their mascaras very much.

Mineral foundation is good, so are glimmersticks.

We sell a stack of Skin so Soft at my work.

As midge deterrent... But it moisturises quite well too.

RoxyRobin · 04/05/2012 12:27

Is the Skin so Soft effective against midges, Abzs? Was thinking of getting some for a June trip to North-West Scotland, but have heard differing reports.

Magicmayhem · 04/05/2012 13:41

I always get their Magic x primer

Abzs · 04/05/2012 20:08

It's the oil film it leaves on your skin that the midgies dislike. They don't/won't bite through it. So it's technically not a repellent. They'll still land on you.

I've been using it for a while and found it as good as anything else. Main advantage is that it doesn't damage your clothing like the DEET based ones can.

The fool proof way of not getting midgie bites is to not go to the west coast in the summer...

Magix x primer

RoxyRobin · 04/05/2012 20:16

We've been going for years - we must be masochists! It's DH they really go for; I use him as a midge-magnet.

The prospect of being covered with a midge-encrusted oil-slick is not very appealing but will give it a go. Can always use if for its official purpose afterwards.

Skin so soft has an underlying chemical smell. But it's not oily.

tharsheblows · 05/05/2012 15:04

Thank you! I ordered the primer, some glimmerstick eyeliners, a men's shower gel and some eyeshadow. It seemed everything was 50% off, so that's not as much money as it would appear to be. I am too old or perhaps too inept for mineral foundation.

Actually, I haven't ordered it because the woman didn't come back, but I filled out the form. I should text her now.

I really like a lot of their perfumes, perfect for work.

BillyBollyBandy · 05/05/2012 21:34

Their Anew stuff is excellent

Evizza · 05/05/2012 22:38

The Anew products are good, the glimmersticks are excellent and love Magix primer x

pinkmagic1 · 05/05/2012 22:41

Agree with the skin so soft. It has to be the green 'soft and fresh' one to repel insects though, not the pink one. Smells fab too!
