Nude Tights? Advice needed

HipHopOpotomus · 03/05/2012 11:04

HELP - I have just brought this dress (in the yellow grey pattern)to wear to DD2's christening on Sunday.

I'm thinking I should wear nude tights (black being a bit severe for spring no?) but haven't brought any for years. Last time I wore them I felt like my gran.

Any advice on selecting the correct nude tight would be appreciated - preferably tights from somewhere I can buy on high street - M&S would be perfect.

When I say 'nude' I am white, paleish (very pale legs but then who hasn't at this time of year). I'm size 18.

Would nude fishnets work? I have some of those somewhere ....

I see loads of people wearing nudes that make them look just lightly tanned and smooth legged. I asked one woman at work where she got hers and she said something like Spar shop or Co-op I reckon. Said they were mega cheap.

What about a shade of light grey to pick up the grey in the dress? Fishnets to church, I wouldn't.

I have the plain version of this dress. It is my favourite dress ever. You will feel fantastic in it, I guarantee.

These have aways worked for me. Good old M&S!

Have a lovely day!

they look good Shangri.
I LOVED the dress in grey but wear so much grey and black - I'm trying to brighten up a bit. Excited now after your review!

Yes I guess even nude fishnets is a bit much for church - good point fallen(visions of MIL fanning herself in shock)

yes that is the look I'm going for nightsky - the ones shangri has recommended look fab.

I might pick up a grey pair as well and see on the day. In case the 'nude' freaks me out.

Nude tights are fine. Just don't go for the orangey tan ones or the really pale ones and make sure you buy a low denier (7 or 10) and you won't look grannyish at all. I work in a fairly formal industry (law) and usually wear nude tights or hold ups to work. I get them from M&S.

porcamiseria · 03/05/2012 12:57

I was going to suggest nude fishnets!

porcamiseria · 03/05/2012 12:59

ladies what dress/bar sizxe are you? I am a 14/F cup and want new work dress....

minipie · 03/05/2012 13:17

I agree with euro the key is to buy low denier - and buy more than one pair as they ladder if you so much as look at them!

pretty polly do decent ones IIRC.

HipHopOpotomus · 03/05/2012 13:25

Got lucky as local M&S Food does a few non-food items and tights are one of them.
So brought the recommended 7 denier appearance natural tan cooling sheer oiled.

And a double pack of natural tan 7 denier, shaper tights just in case!

many thanks to you all.

porc I am an 18F ish - still BF so I don't know what I will be in the end.

Porcamisera - the dress will look fantastic on your figure. I am a nearing 6 footer size 14/16. Not immense boobage, so I'm not really a Pepperberry girl but my friend is and showed it to me. Don't know about work though, it is quite low cut. I tend to wear it with a camisole underneath and wear it out for dinners and will take it on hols. But I do work in an ultra conservative environment, so it could work for you. I would buy it in a rainbow of colours if I could!
