I have used Crest Whitestrips (buy on ebay) - very simple, very effective. About £40 as I recall.

I used them once a day instead of twice a day as instructed - result takes longer but avoids sensitivity issues.

Try an electric toothbrush and Elgydium toothpaste

valiumredhead · 03/05/2012 09:51

DON'T but anything off the internet for teeth bleaching, it can ruin your gums!

Hullygully · 03/05/2012 09:52

What's so good about the toothpaste, Bonsoir?

Bonsoir · 03/05/2012 09:55

It's just a lot better than any other toothpaste! Gets teeth/mouth a lot cleaner.

A scale and polish every 6 months keeps my fag/red wine/coffee stained teeth looking sparky. My dentist does it for £20.

KellyKettle · 03/05/2012 10:17

I had this from my dentist (I don't know if it's the same supplier but I had a tray and gel like this)

Bravura sent an offer for the above link - £5 off when you quote BRAVURA (I shop with them for my glycolic acid stuff).

FabMum1 · 03/05/2012 14:42

KellyKettle, did that stuff work?

I know it's a bit simple, but Pearldrops work really well for me. I usually use it for a couple of months and then return back to a kinder on the enamel toothpaste such as Mccleans whitening, which is also really effective I find.

Having said that though, I heard the other day that the vast majority of whitening toothpastes just make your gums pinker, which make your tooth automatically look whiterHmm

KellyKettle · 03/05/2012 20:05

fab it really did. I had it done for my wedding and my teeth look amazing in the pics. It lasted a while and I have still got the tray so I'm just going to do it at home and stay on top of it with my Sonicare.

People commented at my wedding that I looked different but they couldn't work out why. But then I was wearing a big white dress so not quite an everyday look anyway Smile or rather, Grin

Superdrug use to (maybe still do) have some toothpaste called 'Brilliant'. Priced at around £4.99. I tried it and it did make a somewhat noticable difference. I can't afford to buy anymore at the moment as we're saving every penny for our hols, but when i've some extra cash to splash i'm going to buy some more. I haven't seen it anywhere else?

suebfg · 03/05/2012 20:46

Colgate Max One is very good - worth a try for £3.99

PrincessOfWails · 03/05/2012 23:36

Will those crest whitestrips remove stains too?

osterleymama · 03/05/2012 23:45

Crest whitening strips lifted smoking stains (ugh) and made my teeth a few shades whiter in about two weeks. They did sting a bit sometimes when I used them twice a day but no long term effects. I recommend them to everyone.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/05/2012 08:26

Peroxyl mouthwash has hydrogen peroxide in it and that will bleach out staining. Or you could mix hydrogen with water, the instructions for a mouthwash are on the side of the bottles iirc.

Ultrasonic toothbrushes are often on offer at boots and amazon. Mine has a whitening program too.

If you drink tea/coffee through a straw it delivers it to the back of the mouth and bypasses teeth so they dont get as stained. Strange but true. Your OH will most likely take the piss though. sigh.

spooktrain · 04/05/2012 11:48

Kelly I have just ordered that, it was on special offer too :) Will let you know how it goes on my yellow gnashers

KellyKettle · 04/05/2012 21:19

Oh spook yes let me know! It's on my to-do list!

Love the idea of drinking tea through a straw. My colleagues would think I was a twat but for white teeth....hmmm...I should probably by-pass my mouth altogether and just have it put straight into a vein.

beatenbyayellowteacup · 04/05/2012 21:58

I had my teeth saltblasted at the hygienist - cost me £37 (on top of the scale and polish though) and it removes all the stains and gets your teeth back to your original colour.

PrincessOfWails · 05/05/2012 09:47

I had my teeth blasted last year (with something - maybe salt?!) but the tea/coffee stains are creeping back... My dentist won't do a scale and polish for some reason - that would keep them under check. Angry

It's only a teeny stain, so will try the whitening strips.

FabMum1 · 07/05/2012 20:40

Spook train, let me know how you get on

deltawab! I was in Superdrug earlier and Brilliant is on special offer at the moment, it's £2.99.
