Need a new dress

HalleLouja · 02/05/2012 20:38

I am after a dress and probably shoes for a night out.

I have olive skin and largish in the nork department. I am a size 12 and on the short side. I can't wear really high shoes but don't want flats either.

Please lovely people I need help.

I don't want to spend more than £100 on dress and shoes if possible,,,,

Er how old are you, what do you like wearing, favourite colours etc. I'd go and look at ASOS. I'm a bit old really but they have tons of good stuff, lots of cheap stuff in the sale and deliver free.

HalleLouja · 02/05/2012 20:57

I am 33 years old and am relatively young looking (I got Id-ed the other day....). I don't mind something low cut but not too low cut. Can't be too high as my norks would look stooopid. My legs aren't my best feature but aren't in awful shape.

I was thinking red as a colour.

Was searching Asos and found French Connection dress but not completely sold.

Like this one too here but its out of stock and don't like the sleeves.

I am looking through French Connection. Like this one but its not red and the neckline might be a bit high.

Like the out of stock FC dress the best -- most versatile.

Embrodiered one no my cup of tea; black one the neck may be too high as you said.

nothingoldcanstay · 02/05/2012 21:14

Yep quite like them all but the first one might look odd with a large chest (bit boxy maybe) and hard to find shoes to work. The ones they've chosen are dreadful.
Something like 2 would be lovely IMO. Can you buy it from FC website?

HalleLouja · 02/05/2012 21:16

I like the colour of the embroided one and the tie thingy.

The out of stock one I have found on ebay so could still be a goer. Also £50.

HalleLouja · 02/05/2012 21:20

So if I went for the tie one which shoes should I buy?

No idea what shoes would work best without seeing your legs. Dress is quite short and those chunky sandals in the photo look shocking (IMO -I know they are supposed to be the next thing). Nice wedge maybe?

Have a look at the Yumi website too. They have a couple of nice dresses that might do

MoonlightandRoses · 02/05/2012 23:07

Would any of these suit?
Coast orange fitted dress
J.Crew silk
at the top of the budget, but a bit different

nothingoldcanstay · 03/05/2012 09:04

OMG that Amarni one is fantastic! Just what I'm looking for actually. Thanks so much MoonlightandRoses!!

HalleLouja · 03/05/2012 10:14

I like the Armani one but need something I can wear a bra with....

MoonlightandRoses · 03/05/2012 11:54

Oh God, yes, sorry of course you do (just liked the dress and forgot about the norkage). Will go back to the drawing board.

Glad to be of service nothingoldcanstay Grin.

HalleLouja · 03/05/2012 13:06

Am having a better look and like the Coast one too. An that J Crew one (but it might be a bit low.

Thanks Moonlight and everyone else.

Right - a few more to ponder over...
simple blue silk
Whistles viper dress - v.apt for a M'netter
shift - St.martin's sizes to the small side

HalleLouja · 04/05/2012 09:29

The simple blue silk is stunning. The only problem is that not sure if my norks will fit into a 12 but they should do. Just checking the returns policy.

The St Martins one could work. As I could use it for work too.

Am liking these shoes here. But not the colour I was after.

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 04/05/2012 09:34

These are funkier and in the sale.

MoonlightandRoses · 04/05/2012 20:33

The second ones, definitely go for the second ones.

On the Yoox dress - I haven't ordered from them in a while, but returns used to be v.easy - I just emailed the day I tried on the clothes, left tags on etc., they sent the courier round the next day to collect, and money arrived back on the credit card three days later - hopefully they are still the same!

HalleLouja · 04/05/2012 20:35

That does sound good. The second pair of shoes were much better. Will be nice for the holiday I just booked.

Joy Red dress

red-ish wrap dress

MoonlightandRoses · 04/05/2012 21:06

Okay - bear with me on this, but, if you like funky then how about
Aldo1 or Aldo2
Asos tweed

Dune also have the most gorgeous pair of brown T-bars on sale, but unfortunately they are too daywear. Dune. unfortunately, they don't have them in my size Sad.

HalleLouja · 04/05/2012 21:12

The Dune ones are fab. But too day wear and too high and and and not in my size.

Like the Asos ones but can't wear high heels. Have balance issues. One of my colleagues calls me bambi. I like a medium sized heel though.

MoonlightandRoses · 04/05/2012 22:11

Ah - that's not good...have searched about ten million a few more shoes and can confidently say that the Office ones are good Smile.

If it's the right style, they don't have the colour, or are suspiciously cheap etc.,
Only other possibilities would be if you have an outlet near you that does LK Bennett, Hobbs or Carvela/Nine West/Bertie - they all tend to do good kitten/mid-heels.

HalleLouja · 05/05/2012 11:56

Office shoes are ordered. Thanks for the dedication to the cause moonlight. They look nice. Now need to order dress but might have a quick look in town first.
