boys outfit - wedding guests

Any ideas for wedding outfits for boys, we are just guests, DS's are 5 and 8.

I've bought this shirt for one of them M&S, he was going to wear with grey trousers, but I'm not sure if it's too casual.

It's just a quick registry office and then a few sandwiches in the pub afterwards, so didn't want anything too fancy or expensive.

My boys wear either linen trousers or chinos (weather/season dependent) with cotton shirt & Converse. I detest the fugly offerings or boys' "occasion wear" (i.e. vile & nasty polyester suit)

That would be fine, I'd say.

Same as ujjayi

That's fine.
I think a nice cheerful shirt and a pair of cords is perfect for a boy to wear to wedding. Any more formal than that is odd. Little boys look weird in ties.

Oh I agree ujjayi - those nasty little suits making gorgeous children look like mini middle managers at Curry's or something.

YUCK.

I agree I definately didn't want suits or ties for them.

Oldest DS is very skinny and it is quite difficult to get trousers that look ok on him, that's why I bought the M&S shirt, it has grey in it so looks ok with the grey trousers he already has, they're not school trousers by the way!

Right so I might keep looking for some chinos which will actually fit him and maybe some plain blue shirts, I have been looking but not found much that isn't either too modern - think drainpipe style, not what I was looking for, or really baggy around the back.

If I can't find anything else I'll go with the shirt I've bought and his grey trousers, and I have a shirt and stone chinos for the other one which I think will be ok.

thanks everyone, it was much easier sorting DD out, pretty dress and she was done Grin
