80's party for chubster!

As the title would suggest I am indeed a bit chubby and I am going to an 80's party at the weekend.

Im not used to being a chub and would happily have went out wearing not a great deal pre-baby. So I'm totally confused now.

Anyone got any high street ideas for me that won't make me look like a lycra covered hippo?

i have big, wide shoulders which make me look bigger than I am....therefore I love huge 80s shoulder pads as it looks like its 100% the pads and not all me! maybe go really ott with the shoulders so all attention drawn to there? or.... a big oversized t-shirt eg Wham! / Choose Life. tshirts werent slim fit back then!

I found a pic of Madonna in the 80s with her wild curly hair, loads of bracelets, cross necklaces etc., but she's basically wearing a black jacket, black trousers and top. Would that work?
Depends if you could get recognisably Madonna with the hair. And if you like it :)
