are shellac nails any good?

my nails are always breaking and ive heard about shellac, thats supposed to strangthen your own nails and make nailpolisih not chip

anyone tried it?

I have tried Jessica Everlasting which is the same concept (gel nail varnish that you soak off). If does last and doesn't chip BUT my nails were in quite a poor state when I had it soaked off (I had it on for 6 weeks, 2 manicures back to back).

I think it is worth it for a special occasion to have a great manicure that lasts but wouldn't use it as a way to improve you own nails.

Have a look at this recent thread about Shellac and simila products.

pretty much unanimous that they look fab and last well but are very damaging to your own nails.

look fab yes. If by strenghten you mean that the nails won't break so easily while the gel is on, then I would agree with this. Wreck the nails though, so I only have them a few times per year.
