Wearing skinny jeans with a big scarf and a slightly baggy top?
Nuffink wrong with that, just they're all the same.
Oh and holding a bag in an awkward way.

It's full of very young models and fashion style but I take a lot of inspiration from there.

lumbago - I agree with you on this one. Don't get me wrong, I really like Does My Bum Look 40 (her writing makes me laugh) and even WIT but they are a rather same-y formula.

I do agree.

Thing is if you're pretty stylish and look good its generally because you've worked out what looks good on you and works for your lifestyle but it does get very samey.

Still like reading them though Smile

Yes. No one ever wears a skirt. Or indeed goes to work where you can't wear jeans. Or have to endure cold offices.

Have a look at What I Wore. Sometimes she gets it horribly wrong but sometimes looks great - and she wears skirts a lot!

Also, Kendi Everyday.

They are both young and tall and gorgeous though, so not always the best for mere short curvy mortals like me!

Why don't they do " suits that fit"
Or smart casual work wear. Where you can't wear jeans or mini skirts.
Not just " bankers wives who wear scarves "

Either because those ladies have no time to be blogging their clothes everyday or because Ime in the city there weren't many people male or female in good suits etc

Fashion forward, career grafters on 80 hr weeks do not good suit blogs make

If I had the technical know how time I'd do one called "teach me chic" for teachers ......smart/casual, no jeans, not quite suits though, with a "go crazy on the weekend" section!!!!!

Think you're being bit harsh. I look at lots of blogs (admittedly no work wear). I love to see what other women are wearing.

I agree that some of them are very uninspiring and even manage to take the joy out of fashion / clothes at times. It makes me feel a bit sad when I look at the outfits and then read the "you look stunning, I want that dress" comments. I have come to the conclusion that some people use them more for a "she's wearing it & has a "style" blog so it must be ok" feeling rather than for style inspiration iyswim.

I've only started looking at them recently. I prefer the ones that link to lots of other stuff than the "look at what I'm wearing today" ones. I think few people are genuinely really stylish. I have one friend I consider to have real style and she hardly ever wears jeans (which a lot of them seem to revolve around).

I do admire someone setting themselves up as knowledgeable about style though - knowing people are looking at their blog going "yeah right, style my arse!".

I think some of them get the clothes for free. There was one I was looking at who was sent a free coat and was struggling to make it look good!

drywhiteplease I like your idea! many of us in normal jobs (not just teaching) probably have to dress in a smart casual style during the week, but then get to wear stuff to suit themselves at the weekend.

Go for it. Setting one up is not hard: look at Blogger, Tumblr, etc.

I also like less writing - and good quality pics. I don't object to 'Does My Bum....' on the grounds of what she wears (apart from those Godawful ankle length cardigan things) and tbh it's often v similar to my weekend look, but she writes too much and the pictures are really poor quality. The Sartorialist is beautiful but I view it mainly as art rather than inspiration.
