Just that really. Seen them mentioned a lot recently but not sure what they actually do. Are they like a primer? And any recommendations for brands?

Bloody Brilliant, thats what they are. Don't know how they do what they do,but they do.
I have the Garnier one.

Watching this thread for advice. Thinking of getting Estée Lauder or one from Harvey Nicks.
Supposed to do it all. Cover blemishes. Even skin tone. Sun screen etc
Can be used as primer or on own

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 29/04/2012 13:45

I got mine as I cannot bear foundation but I have uneven skin tone. I have been really pleased at the overall difference it's made to the appearance of my face without feeling plastered.

I love the Garnier one, or at least I did last summer when I had a slight fake tan aswell, unfortunately the light one is not light enough for my usual uber-pale skin.

If anyone knows of a super -pale (I'm alabaster tint in Bobbi Brown make up) beauty balm then PLEASE let me know!

louloutheshamed · 29/04/2012 15:36

Yes I would need a pale one too!

I was very surprised as I'd always thought I'd got very pale skin - they were out of the light one when I bought mine, and only had medium. I reluctantly tried that thinking it was bound to be too dark, but as it turns out it's perfect.
Obviously you should grab any opportunity to try before you buy (RL friends?)
