Gold replica historical ring- HELP

Hello all

I wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for a gold ring that is a replica of a historical one, a bit like this

In fact I love this one, but as you can see it is silver. I also found one on the website for the Romans Baths of Bath, but that is also silver. I would like it to have words around the outside, but it doesn't especially matter what they say.

Anyone got any ideas of where I might find something similar in gold? Not even real gold, just has to look gold.

It is a gift for a friend who expressed a liking for the above ring but would like it in gold.

P.S No Lord of the Rings suggestions, please Grin

I think you'd have to get it made. It's not particularly complicated though. From the looks of things it's just a band with engraving. In gold it would be very expensive though as the gold price has shot way up.

If she's a good friend it may be worth looking into!

If I were you, I'd go visit a few jewellers, ask to see their plain gold bands and enquire about getting one engraved. It needn't be particularly heavy which may keep costs down a bit.

Although if you search google for gold plated posy ring it does come up with this...

ring which is £1.55 from a museum reproductions website! I would imagine that it would turn her finger green after a while though.

What about buying one of those DIY kits that allows you to coat silver with gold? I'm off to google for you!

Some brilliant suggestions and loving the idea of plating it myself- I didn't even know you could do that!

And this is why I love, love, love Mumsnet Grin

Thanks for all these suggestions. Am going to investigate them and if not try gold plating that original one myself.
