Bra panic!

I'm going to be a bridesmaid soon, wearing this dress. I'm a size 14. Bust size approx 36DD and I'm going to need a backless / strapless bra. I naively thought this would be no problem but on closer inspection I can't find any that I think will do. Eek!

Any ideas? I defo need a bra!

I think someone a while back mentioned a really good strapless bra...maybe do a search.

cappucinogirl4 · 28/04/2012 21:49

have a look at the bravissimo website - sorry can't do links - they should have what you need! Have shopped in store and online with them and they are excellent

Stylelostinlabour · 28/04/2012 21:50

You need the strapless wonder bra it's fab I'm the same size and after reading rave reviews in here got in its the best one ever!

DinahMoHum · 28/04/2012 21:50

you can get ones that cross over the small of your back

Stylelostinlabour · 28/04/2012 21:50

Oh and it's looks really weird off and massive but it really does the job and my boobs like fab in it

lilbitneurotic · 28/04/2012 21:52

The ultimo one seems to be sold out in all sizes!

Is the wonderbra one backless too?

Any I've seen that cross over the small of your back need straps too.

A properly fitting bra shouldn't need to be backless for that dress. Really not. I wonder if you've been badly fitted.

What's your actual under bust measurement?

bravissimo don't seem to have much

MrsBrownX · 28/04/2012 22:02

Lovely dress! I can't find a bra with or without straps that fits well (36 D).

lilbitneurotic · 28/04/2012 22:02

No, I was measured in Bravissimo and I thought my bra was okay when I tried it on (at the back anyway) but it was a long time ago and then the bride said the other day I'd need a backless bra or you'd see it through the hole.

Now I'm wondering if it would be okay or if I could maybe wear the wonderbra one and just pull the back down a bit and toupee tape it?

OP posts:
supernannyisace · 28/04/2012 22:06

I rate the wonderbra strapless - it is great.

But the cutout at the back may not work so well.

Would you be able to wear a bra where y ou can cross the straps over - as if you were wearing a racer back?

MrsLettuce · 28/04/2012 22:06

yy, to toupee tape. TBH if it was me I'd probably be tacking me bra to me spanx Shock

So, the bride is the one with badly fitted bra then

Mombojombo · 28/04/2012 22:15

My wedding dress back was lower than the keyhole of that dress and I was about a 32FF when I got married. Rigby & Pellar found me a brilliant basque that IIRC wasn't ridiculously expensive - its a Goddess bridal basque, which is actually more like a very longline bra, not terribly sexy as bridal underwear but built like a tank and able to hoist my big boobs up all day.

Even though it's quite a substantial bit of kit it's the only strapless 'bra' I've ever had that works and I wear it with everything strapless or halternecked to this day. Have a google (sorry, I'm on phone and can't).

loopydoo · 28/04/2012 22:15

Could you go bra-less?

I do in taffeta dresses, although I have a smaller bust so perhaps not quite as important to wear a bra.

It is very fitted at the top and supportive - I think I'd see what it looks like without.

lilbitneurotic · 28/04/2012 22:15

I think crossing them over would be tricky because the neckline is very round.

I'll need to try and devise some pinning to spanx device and just not drink all day!

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 28/04/2012 22:17

spanx have, erm, piss flaps, for want of a better explanation

lilbitneurotic · 28/04/2012 22:19

OK I'll have a google of the Goddess bridal basque - 'built like a tank' sounds just what I need!

I'd be scared of bra-less, I've never gone braless in my adult life and am currently still feeding my DS (should be weaned by the wedding) but I don't think that'll help my bralessness any!

Ha! A lovely turn of phrase MrsLettuce!

How about using this adaptor with a strapless bra?
