Help with maternity workwear dresses

All the maternity clothes stores and websites seem to assume you want long sleeves and black all summer or will be wafting about in strappy thigh high dresses.

I am really struggling to find some decent summer maternity work dresses. Last time I was pregnant in winter and I lived in Isabella Oliver dresses, but their summer stuff seems to have either long sleeves or their very very clingy skin tight stuff (which quite frankly I dont have the bum for at the best of times!).

I just want a nice smart dress or two with short or cap sleeves that falls on or below the knee - dont mind spending a bit (although not designer prices) and it can be jersey as long as its still smart. Any ideas?

I would look at some non-maternity dresses but look for things with a bit of fullness in the skirt, possibly in jersey fabrics. I did buy some maternity clothes but actually I had some normal dresses that worked fine the whole way through.

I seem to remember a couple of monsoon dresses being worn so much one of them literally wore a hole!

Boden?

BrianButterfield · 26/04/2012 20:27

I was going to suggest Boden - but their normal range, not maternity. They do loads of dresses that are cut well for a bump. I wore one of their jersey dresses all the way through my pregnancy and the bonus is I can wear it now as well.

Try www.seraphine.com and www.cravematernity.co.uk

I managed to get a couple of smart dresses from Top Shop. I found most of their range was v casual (lived in their jeans at the weekends!) but got a short sleeved black dress and a spotty cream and brown dress which were both a bit different from the usual maternity dresses. This was a couple of years ago so not sure what the range is like this year but maybe worth a look?

Like Starlight I found the TopShop range great & ditto Boden jersey dresses (non-maternity). You may also be able to find something in the ASOS collection ASOS maternity, as long as you don't need to be too formal and don't mind relatively short. Another good place to look is TK Maxx.Looks as though DP's has now also got in on the act - comes in blue or coral

Sorry, hit 'post' too soon - meant to say 'congratulations!' too.

Thanks, I like topshop stuff but its all so short and I dont have the knees for it and I wouldnt get away with it for work.

Will try Boden.
