Highlights Help!

In Jan I got my dark hair highlighted and it looked fab - a caramely type colour. Now I don't know when I need to go back and get it re-done - how often do you all get your highlights done? and this may sounds stupid but will they just re-do the roots? I am presuming they won't re-do my whole head otherwise there would be no dark brown left..... does this make any sense?

I get my blonde hair highlighted every 5 weeks. I know this sounds a lot but my hair is very grey at the roots so it needs to be done. She usually just does the roots and every 2nd or 3rd time pulls the colour right down the foil.
I guess it's really up to you. You can just say you want roots done so as to keep the darker hair

I have dark hair with blonde highlights and i get my roots done every 8 weeks or so. I actually tell her just to do the roots and not to take the coloour too far down as it would make it too blonde then and you'd lose the highlight effect.

They should do just the roots and then some of a different colour to break it up a bit and stop it being over done.
