......Heated rollers!!

Adore them! They give a gorgeous bouncy volumised look...but wonder whats the best product to use before and after to get a shiney non-frizzy affect??

I have been wondering about these - I had some back in the 80's. Don't they do velcro ones now? I would want huge ones...

moonblushtomato · 27/04/2012 21:22

newmatic please re-post!!

Yes they do velcro ones but IMO they're not as efficient as the heated ones. Yes mine are fabulously big!! (oo-er missus)

Which heated rollers do you use and how long is your hair? I often return to my heated rollers but often feel I'm not making the best of them, IYKWIM.

HeeHeeHeeBum · 28/04/2012 15:29

This sounds interesting, are they better these days? I have some 10 year old ones that take 40 mins to heat up.

TheNewandImprovedMrsHollywood · 29/04/2012 17:49

Am bumping in the hope of further hints and tips for heated rollers!

NewMatic · 29/04/2012 19:38

No. You link the ones you have

moonblushtomato · 29/04/2012 20:26

Mine are babyliss heated rollers. They take about 15 mins to heat up. TBH I wish there were more of the bigger ones in the box.

I tried spraying hairspray onto each section last night which resulted in alot of stickiness/stiffness!!

newmatic you've lost me Confused

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 30/04/2012 18:46

I think newmatic is asking you OP for a link to the ones you use.

I need huge rollers and they always look too small for me. Have you tried heated velcro rollers OP? I like the look of them...

5318008 · 30/04/2012 18:55

yes link please

(anyone else secretly hankering after a Charmkin moment? heh heh)

PerryCombover · 30/04/2012 19:08

What about these fellas?

moonblushtomato · 30/04/2012 19:15

Oh I seee valium!

No chance of that, I've no idea about links on the interweb etc, sorry!!

Those rollers look fabuloso Perry much sexier than mine!

Also....what is a Charmkin moment?

I have been contemplating getting some heated rollers too and would also like to know what products, if any, would stop my hair from being so darned frizzy and yet uncurly/wavy.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/04/2012 19:24

I bought these the other week

www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-3035BU-Thermo-Ceramic-Rollers/dp/B00584K3UA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1335810132&sr=8-2

I've only tried them once. I kept them in my hair about 25 mins and it made my hair a bit wavy but not really the effect I was after.

Someone's told me to try again and put loads of mouse in my hair first and to keep them in for longer this time. Will try again at the weekend.

5318008 · 30/04/2012 19:24

moonie, before I explain about Charmkin you must MUST try to link to your rollers, gwan

Follow the instructions under the add message box

nsjuly · 30/04/2012 19:33

I would also love a link please. Google the model, then copy and paste it over from the address bar. Then over here when you are posting your message just check the box immediately below that says "convert links automatically". I love the Babyliss big hair but am always in search of some miracle invention :)

moonblushtomato · 30/04/2012 19:34

viva those are the self same rollers!! Hope you didn't pay that price tho! Got mine at boots for £30!!

531 you drive a hard bargain!! I'm at present trying to get ready for my book group and get sleep-intolerant DD off to bed so my brain can't cope with anything as humungous as creating/making/doing (see what I mean?!) a link...

I will try and figure it out later...tho as I'm officially middle-aged now (according to MN) do I need to know???

OP posts:
lumbago · 30/04/2012 19:35

Lol at mouse.

Mousse obv

5318008 · 30/04/2012 19:36

okay, I'll be here, good gel

dearprudence · 30/04/2012 19:39

I find heated rollers work best on freshly washed and dried hair. Mine are about 30 years old lots of the rollers are quite small. I'm going to look for bigger ones now.

PerryCombover · 30/04/2012 19:43

On my link somewhere (or another) there is a wise bird saying
Make sure hair is dry maybe not just washed
Rollers are v hot
Leave for 20-25mins

VivaLeBeaver · 30/04/2012 19:47

Ha ha, yes mousse not mouse. Oh dear.

No, I'm sure I didn't pay that much for them. I did get them off Amazon but only paif £25 iirc. I hunted about for the best price at the time but they seem to have gone up now.

ggirl · 30/04/2012 19:51

oooh >

I have htose babyliss rollers

they work a bit too well on my hair.

I was aiming for this

and ended up with this

I too have the babyliss heated rollers....very good and less damaging than straightners....sometimes though when I look in the mirror I see my mum circa 1976.....
