Too fat for coloured jeans?

I'm a very curvy size 18 with a big bum - am I too fat for coloured jeans?

Just watching the voice and I liked the outfit of wearing a black and white striped blazer with coloured bottoms (though I wouldn't wear yellow!)

I think some of the deeper shades maybe good, a friend has some lovely plum ones that look fab on her curves, where as I looked stupid. both the same size.

No, of course not. My tip would be maybe to go for brights rather than pastels perhaps.

That said, I haven't found a pair that I'm happy with, so I've gone for slightly tailored coloured chinos instead (Gap have a beautiful bright red pair) which are far more flattering on my sausages thighs.

Chinos tend to look rubbish on me - its all about the shape around my bum in them - but I think I look ok in jeans and leggings as although I'm big looser styles make me look bigger iykwim

Try some M&S jeggings I've got a pair of royal blue ones (am a stupidly curvy 14) and they're remarkably forgiving. You could always wear longer tunic tops or vests in darker colours over the top to hide any bits you're less confident showing in such bright colours.

I'd say the dusky, darker side of pink should look lovely. It's always about how you style them in my opinion. Would prefer them with a long, loose cardi than a striped blazer though - but if you are worried about your bum (not sure if you are or not???) a bolder top/blazer would certainly drag attention upwards.

And speaking of bums, the positioning of the back pockets always makes or breaks a pair of jeans for me: the lower and larger the pockets, the slimmer the effect, or something like that. Tiny pockets doing the opposite, etc.

What a great thread and something I've been debating since I fell in love with coloured jeans!

Thanks all - will go shopping and try some stuff on.

Yes I'm worried about my bum - my whole pelvis tilts backwards iyswim so it sticks out.
